This little program is designed to overcome the problem experienced by
registered users of Quick-Ed on multi-node RA systems, where Dror's little
kludge to get the name of the user online doesn't quite work. It may also
be used on a single-node system instead of the method described in the
Quick-Ed documentation, but I see no clear advantage to doing so. To install
QED-WHO, simply replace the autoexecute questionaire described in the
Quick-Ed docs with an autoexecute type 7 shell to this program. The same
potential problem with the logon mail check is there, see the Quick-Ed docs
for details on how to overcome this. Alternatively, you may run QED-WHO with
a ^X shell from your WELCOME.A??, see the RemoteAccess manual for details and
warnings if you use this method of installation. Using the ^X method will
overcome the logon mail check potential problem, but there are possible
SECURITY RAMIFICATIONS to doing this, and I can not overstress the importance
of reading the appropriate section of the RA manual.
There is no registration fee for using this program, but if you want to send me
a small gift it would be appreciated. You can contact me at FidoNet address
