All that's needed in order for any BBS to become a MICRONEWS NewStand is:
1. Establish a seperate file area for MICRONEWS files.
2. Keep the current year's MICRONEWS issue files (12 max.) available.
3. Make these files available...AT NO COST...to a first-time user/caller.
4. Make the MICRONEWS files File Requestable.
5. Give me, Gene Zeak, Access to your BBS.
6. Call to get the MICRONEWS file for the current month from The Clipper
Chipper BBS (George Fliger), Fido Node 1:137/210, Telephone Number:
813-745-5677, or an SDN member BBS.
Press the PgDn key...
**** NOTE ****
I will upload both the local (MN*****L.ZIP) and the national (MN*****N.ZIP)
formats to The Clipper Chipper BBS for any month by the first (1st) day of
that month.
The ***** in the filename will be the month and year, example: MNMAR91L.ZIP)
means that it's the March, 1991 local format issue of MICRONEWS.
George Fliger (Sysop) has agreed to keep the MN*****N.ZIP (national) file
available for the current month. This means you can get the national format
March, 1991 issue from his BBS any day during the month of March, 1991.
Then, he might erase it to gain the disk space.
If you have a local (813 area code) BBS, you will probably want the local
format issue. You would File Request the MN*****L.ZIP file.
As you may have noticed, we have stopped making the MICRONEWS archive file
self-extracting. We did this because of three reasons...
1. Just about everyone using a modem has the PKUNZIP utility.
2. The self-extracting archive format uses up disk space.
3. Our national distributer <SDN>, archives all the file in their fomat.
If you don't have the PKZIP utilities, you can get them from almost any BBS.
