DEX-i-lbl
(c) Franklin Service Systems
v 2.0
DEX-i-lbl is a freeware program. You are
encouraged to use it and to offer it to others.
This program gives the user the capability of
directing and formatting data to a standard 3 1/2
inch tractor feed mailing label.
The program sends formatting instructions to the
printer to access 10 or 12 character per inch,
draft and/or near letter quality characters. Not
all printers will read DEX-i-lbl's formatting
instructions, so the user is advised to format the
printer directly and then request a screen format
that will agree with the printer setting.
There is a test module to determine your printer's
abitilty to comply with the program's instructions.
The screen can be modified to reflect either a 10
or 12 character to the inch setting, and the print
head can be adjusted to accurately position it to
the label.
The label, represented on the screen, allows the
user to enter his/her data to it, moving the data
forward or back using standard insert and delete
keys to center the it on the label.
And finally, the user is given the opportunity
to print multiple labels should that be useful.
DEX-i-lbl was written as a utility for DEX-i-cal,
another product of Franklin Service Systems. With
DEX-i-cal in the default directory, DEX-i-lbl can
draw on information stored within the filecards of
COMPUdex, avoiding the need to re-enter names,
addresses, etc. in the preparation of mailing labels.
When used in this way, centering of the information
on the label is accomplished by entering a number,
with or without a minus sign, to advance the data
in all the lines of the label simultaneously. The
minus sign moves the printhead back the number of
spaces specified, no more than 9 at a time.
