This procedure is to remove the checking for the master (key) disk
in drive A: while running MaxThink (version 1.0).
Please note, this proceedure is distrubuted so that you may archive
copies of MaxThink for your own protection. It *is* *not* intended
to bypass the protection so that the program may be illegally
distributed.
1. Make of copy of your MaxThink diskette or at least copy
MAX.EXE to MAX.SAV.
2. Rename MAX.EXE to MAX.XXX
3. Load MAX.XXX into debug by entering: DEBUG MAX.XXX
4. Search for the string '65 6d 6f' by entering:
S 2925:0 L FFFF 65 6d 6f
5. It will return two addresses, use the SECOND address in the
following command (mine was CAB): U 2925:CAB
6. You should see (somewhere) the following:
CALL 0CD1
JB 0CC1
CALL 0ECA
JB 0CC1
However, depending on where the Search located the string
the '0CD1' etc. addresses will be different, it does not
matter what they are just where they are.
7. Using the address on the leftmost column on the screen
(which should read something like 2925:CEF) Enter NOP's
over the above instructions.
In my case it was:
E 2925:CEF 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90
8. Write the program back to disk by entering Q to the '-' prompt.
90 90 90 9
