FOR THE USERS THAT HAVE 'IBM CASINO' V 1.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS DATED SEPT 1, 1984 AND SUPERSEDES ALL UNDATED
VERSIONS OR DATED VERSIONS PRIOR TO THIS DATE.
FROM : THE A.S.P ; (Against Software Protection)
ORIGINALLY SUBMITTED TO ASA FULTON'S BBS (SHINING SUN - 305-273-0020)
AND TO WHIT WYANT'S BBS (PC-CONNECT - 203-966-8869)
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE UNPROTECT PROCEDURES INVOLVE FROM 4 HOURS TO
___________________________________________________________________
40 OR MORE HOURS ( 4+ HOURS FOR 'IBM CASINO') OF
SINGLE STEPPING THRU CODE AND FIGURING OUT THE
INTENT OF THE ORIGINAL CODE.. SO I WOULD APPRECIATE IT WHEN U PASS
THIS ON TO OTHER BOARDS YOU DO NOT ALTER THIS OR TRY TO TAKE CREDIT
FOR MY LOST SLEEP.... THE A.S.P... ORLANDO FLA. (J.P. TO HIS FRIENDS)
IF YOU HAVE A HARD DISK OR WANT TO CREATE A BACKUP COPY THAT IS NOT
TIED INTO THE 'IBM CASINO' DISKETTE...IN CASE YOUR ONLY COPY GOES BAD
.. THIS PATCH WILL REMOVE THE COPY PROTECTION COMPLETELY....
AS ALWAYS THIS IS FOR YOUR PERSONAL PEACE OF MIND ONLY
IT IS NOT MEANT TO BYPASS ANY COPYRIGHTS..YOU ARE BY LAW BOUND BY
YOUR PURCHASE LICENSE AGREEMENT.
IF YOU HAVE A HARD DISK AND WANT TO PUT THE PROGRAM ON SUCH
WHY SHOULD YOU BE TIED TO A FLOPPY. YOU HAD TO GIVE UP A LOT OF
'BIG MACS' TO GET YOUR HARD DISK.
1). FORMAT 1 DISK UNDER DOS 2.0 OR 2.1
2). LABEL IT ACCORDING TO THE ORIGINAL 'IBM CASINO' PROGRAM DISKETTE
3). COPY THE FILES FROM THE ORIGINAL DISKETTE TO THE CORRESPONDING
2.X FORMATTED DISKETTE
4). PLACE THE ORIGINAL 'IBM CASINO' DISKETTE BACK IN THE MANUAL
WE WILL NO LONGER USE THEM.
5). I WON'T TELL U HOW TO USE DEBUG OR ANY 'PATCHER' PROGRAMS
ON THE BBS'S.
6). FIRST WE WILL NEED TO CHANGE PROGRAMS CALLED 'DRAWING.EXE'
AND 'INTRO.EXE'
7). THE FOLLOWING IS THE OUTPUT WHEN THE ORIGINAL PROGRAMS
WERE COMPARED WITH THE MODIFIED VERSIONS, USING DOS 'COMP'
A:DRAWING .EXE and B:DRAWING .EXE (B: IS THE MODIFIED VERSION)

8). NEXT WE NEED TO UNPROTECT THE BASIC PROGRAMS
START.BAS
POKER.BAS
BLACK.BAS
SLOT.BAS
U WILL NEED THE PUBLIC DOMAIN PROGRAM 'UN.P'
9). EXECUTE 'BASIC '
10). LOAD "POKER.BAS"
BLOAD "UN.P",1124 ' SEE COMPAQ.UNP FOR BASICA.EXE V2.0 USE ',&H5CC'
SAVE "POKER.BAS"
11). DO STEP 10 FOR THE OTHER '.BAS' PROGRAMS, SUBSTITUTING THE OTHER NAMES
12). LOAD "START.BAS"
6010 A=PEEK(&H4F0):B=PEEK(&H4F1):C=PEEK(&H4F2):D=PEEK(&H4F4)
SAVE "START.BAS"
13). THAT DOES IT, U NOW HAVE UNPROTECED SOURCE, AS WELL AS MODIFED SOURCE
AND .EXE PROGRAMS.
NOTE: NOW ALL OF 'IBM CASINO' COPY PROTECTION IS REMOVED, AND U MAY DISKCOPY
THE UNPROTECTED DISKS AS REQUIRED.
OTHER NOTES:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1). CHECKS FOR SPECIALLY FORMATTED TRACKS COMPLETELY REMOVED, IF ANY
2). U MAY LOAD ALL THE FILES ON THE NEWLY FORMATTED AND UNPROTECTED
DISKETTE DIRECTLY TO HARD OR RAM DISK, IN ANY SUB-DIRECTORY U
SET UP
3). DISKS NO LONGER REQUIRED TO BE IN DRIVE "A" AT START UP
YOU MAY COPY THE PROGRAMS TO A HARD DISK AND RUN THEM FROM THERE.
4). THE REASON FOR THE CHANGES WAS THAT DOS 2.X WAS MUCH LARGER THAN
DOS 1.X. THE '.EXE' PRGRAMS WERE SAVING INFORMATION AT A MEMORY
ADDRESS THAT WAS NO LONGER 'SAFE'. SO I PUT THE INFORMATION IN
THE INTER-PROGRAM COMMUNICATIONS AREA, THIS WILL ONLY CAUSE PROBLEMS
WITH PROGRAMS THAT ALSO PASS INFO VIA THIS AREA (SUCH AS IBMS ACS 2.0,
'ASYNC COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT PROGRAM) PLUS A FEW OTHERS I CAN THINK OF.
ENJOY YOUR NEW FOUND FREEDOM..HARD DISKS FOREVER!!!!!
