ICEXSCR
A script generator supplement to ICEX11
This program is designed to allow you to interface ICEX11 directly
with your communications package, be it Procomm, Qmodem, GT Power, Boyan
Comm, or Telix. All you do is answer four simple questions and the
program writes the script to your specifications.
The script that is generated will automate calling your local Telenet
link, logging in with the correct sequence, and the invoking ICEX11.
Listed below are the sequences of steps needed to use each script for
each particular comm package. But, first let's explain the four
questions you will be asked.
Question #1
-----------
What is your modem's parameters?
There are only two choices, namely "E" and "N". N means you wish to
log in at N81 or N82 to PcPursuit. E means you wish to log in at E71. I
strongly urge you to use the "N" option, and make sure all of your settings
are at N82.
Question #2
-----------
What is your modem's dialing prefix?
If you have a Hayes compatible modem, it is "ATDT". If you are unsure
what your modem's dialing prefix is, consult your manual for your modem.
Most likely it is "ATDT", and remember to enter it in capital letters.
Question #3
-----------
What is your local Telenet phone number?
This is pretty obvious. Just type in the Telenet phone number you
call to use PcPursuit, but omit the dashes in the number.
Question #4
-----------
What is your modem's connect response?
For a Hayes compatible modem, the answer is "CONNECT". For Racal-
Vadic modems, the answer is "ON LINE". Most likely your modem's connect
response will be "CONNECT", in capital letters remember. If you are
unsure, consult your modem's oprations manual.
Upon answering the last question, the program will write the script
for you under the appropriate name, as given below. It will then return
you to the main menu.
How to use the script you just generated
========================================
PROCOMM
=======
Script name: PCP.CMD
Usage: To use this script, you must get into Procomm. Once you
are past all of the intro screens and into the command
level, you type ALT-F5. It will ask you which script you
wish to use, and you will answer it with PCP.CMD.
Procomm will then dial your local link and once connected
will invoke ICEX11. When ICEX11 returns you back to
Procomm (when it connects to a target bbs), in order to
invoke ICEX11 again, follow the normal procedures for
invocation outlined in ICEX11.DOC.
QMODEM
======
Script name: PCP.QMD
Usage: To use this script, you must get into Qmodem. Once you
are past all of the intro screens and into the command
level, you type ALT-F. It will ask you which script you
wish to use, and you will answer it with PCP.QMD. You will
then be prompted for parameters, you simply hit <CR>.
Qmodem will then dial your local link and once connected
will invoke ICEX11. When ICEX11 returns you back to
Qmodem (when it connects to a target bbs), in order to
invoke ICEX11 again, follow the normal procedures for
invocation outlined in ICEX11.DOC.
GT POWER
========
Script name: PCP.SCR
Usage: To use this script, you must get into GT Power. Once you
are past all of the intro screens and into the command
level, you type ALT-3. It will ask you which script you
wish to use, and you will answer it with PCP.
GT Power will then dial your local link and once connected
will invoke ICEX11. When ICEX11 returns you back to
GT Power (when it connects to a target bbs), in order to
invoke ICEX11 again, follow the normal procedures for
invocation outlined in ICEX11.DOC.
BOYAN
=====
Script name: PCP.BSC
Usage: To use this script, you must get into Boyan. Once you
are past all of the intro screens and into the command
level, you type ALT-R. It will ask you which script you
wish to use, and you will answer it with PCP. It will then
prompt you for the Block, at which you simply hit <CR>.
Boyan will then dial your local link and once connected
will invoke ICEX11. When ICEX11 returns you back to
Boyan (when it connects to a target bbs), in order to
invoke ICEX11 again, follow the normal procedures for
invocation outlined in ICEX11.DOC.
TELIX
=====
Script name: PCP.SCR
Usage: To use this script, you must get into Telix. Once you
are past all of the intro screens and into the command
level, you type ALT-S. It will ask you which script you
wish to use, and you will answer it with PCP.
Telix will then dial your local link and once connected
will invoke ICEX11. When ICEX11 returns you back to
Telix (when it connects to a target bbs), in order to
invoke ICEX11 again, follow the normal procedures for
invocation outlined in ICEX11.DOC.
