GRAPHICAL WELLTEST ANALYSIS PROGRAM
Version:89341
The Graphical WELLTEST Analysis Program includes both conventional (semi-
log) and derivative type curve analysis for pressure-time welltests. Curve
selections are determined by the user. Both single and dual porosity
type curves are included. Data smoothing is allowed. The analyses are
applicable to buildup, drawdown, falloff, and injection tests and allow
for rate variations through use of superposition and convolution. An
interactive companion program, PVT, is included on the Welltest Data disk
to obtain formation and fluid properties from correlations.
The Graphical Welltest Analysis program is designed for use on IBM XT
and AT personal computers with math coprocessors. System
requirements include 640K active memory and an Enhanced Graphics
Adapter (EGA) with Enhanced Color Display. The amount of storage on
the graphics card is queried at startup. The program may be run using
either two floppy disk drives, or a hard disk and one floppy drive.
The simplest application is when two floppy disk drives are
employed: a high density drive (a:) for the Welltest programs and
a standard drive (b:) for the data sets. Several possible combinations
exist for hard and floppy installations. Prior to initial use, the
Welltest (high density) disk must have the graphics drivers
installed. The drivers employed by Welltest are from the IBM
Graphics Development Toolkit. Copy the INIT_VDI.EXE to the
main directory of the Welltest disk, and copy VDI.SYS, VDIMTFIL.SYS,
VDIPRGRA.SYS, AND VDIDY010.SYS to the subdirectory Drivers.
Data input files may be built using the Create option in the
Welltest program or may be constructed using the following:
Data Input Instructions
NOTE: All input is in free format.
First Line: Title Line
Input title enclosed in literals (single quotes).
A maximum of 40 characters is allowed.
Second Line: Test type control (4 entries, integer)
1. Well type
0 = production well test
1 = injection well test
2. Test type
0 = flowing test
1 = shut-in test
3. Fluid type
0 = hydrocarbon gas (pseudopressure analysis)
1 = liquid (pressure analysis)
Select liquid analysis for gas wells if
pressure analysis is desired.
4. Internal counter
(set to zero always)
Third Line: Test data control (4 entries, integer)
1. Selection of test time units
0 = test time in hours
1 = test time in minutes.
2. Selection of rate time units
0 = rate time in hours
1 = rate time in days
3. Number of divisions on the x-axis
(May be set to zero for default)
4. Number of divisions on the y-axis
(May be set to zero for default)
Additional Line Used ONLY for Gas Wells (2 entries, real)
1. Gas gravity
2. Reservoir temperature (F.)
Fourth Line: Reservoir Properties (9 entries: 1 integer, 8 real)
1. Number of rates (integer)
(prior to test for shut-in tests)
(during test for flowing tests)
2. Viscosity (centipoise)
(For gas wells using pseudopressure analysis,
may be set to zero if not known)
3. Formation volume factor (RVB/STB or RVB/MCF)
(For gas wells using pseudopressure analysis,
may be set to zero if not known)
4. Net pay (feet)
5. Wellbore radius (inches)
6. Porosity (fraction)
7. Total system compressibility (microsips)
8. Pressure at start of test (psia)
9. Drained or injected area (acres)
(enter 0 if unknown)
Fifth Line and Successive Lines: Rate data (2 entries per line, real)
1. Flow rate (STB/day or MCF/day)
2. Flow time at rate (hours or days as selected)
(flow times are incremental)
NOTE: A maximum of 25 Rate data pairs are allowed.
Next Line to Last Line: Test data (2 entries per line, real)
1. Test time (hours or minutes as selected)
(test times are cumulative)
2. Test pressure (psia)
NOTE: A maximum of 250 Test data pairs are allowed.
See the Welltest Data Disk for sample datasets.
