THE ONE PAGE Personal Budget Tools MANUAL
1. Copy the files from the distribution diskette over to the floppy
or the hard disk directory from which you wish to run the PBT
in the future.
2. To execute the program, enter <PBT>.
3. Activate menus by pressing the first letter of their names or
by moving the highlight bar over the desired option and pressing
"Enter". NOTE: <ESC> will always return you to the Main Menu, which
is the horizonal bar menu.
4. Activate the Files submenu by pressing "F". Then, choose "N" to create
a new file or "L" to load one which you created before.
5. After either creating a new file or loading an old file, via step 3,
enter or update all three categories of expenses: your annual,
monthly, and weekly expenses. NOTE: The "annual" expense screen is
also used for semi-annual (2 entries) and quarterly (4 entries)
expenses.
Use F1 from the expense screens to get HELP -- including lists of
items you may wish to include.
6. After you've recorded all your expenses, request an Analysis from
the Main Menu. The analysis is as good as the data which you entered.
If you route your analysis to disk, it will go to:
filename.RPT (where filename is the name of the file
which you loaded or created)
If the printed analysis does not print correctly on your printer, load
the disk version of the analysis into your word processor as an
ASCII (i.e. non-document or text) file and print it from within your
word processor.
7. With or without loading a file, you can use the calculators of the
"SCRATCHPAD." They are self-explanatory. The only caveat is that the
calculators are sluggish on 8088 machines. So, your movement from one
field to the next may be delayed. Wait a moment as you change from one
field to the next and you'll avoid getting confused.
8. After you discover what a useful tool this is, don't forget to
register for $25 with:
Tom Rickenbacker
P.O. Box 11662
Newington, CT. 06111
Registration brings the latest version of the PBT.
