  11. If you have a floppy based system, call me between 9 A.M. and 4 P.M. CST on 
  12. any weekday to complete this conversion.

  14.          Methodology for updating your version: [hard disks only]
  15.                  if your version is version 2.645 or after
  16.  
  17. This  update  methodology  assumes that you are updating from  ANY  earlier 
  18. version  of IN-CONTROL [TM] that has the ability to AUTOMATICALLY  back  up 
  19. your data when you exit the program. 
  20.  
  21. This  update  methodology  assumes that you are updating from  ANY  earlier 
  22. version  of IN-CONTROL [TM] that has the ability to AUTOMATICALLY  back  up 
  23. your data when you exit the program.

  25. Make  a  backup  of the data for IN-CONTROL [TM] by  exiting  your  current 
  26. version of the program and selecting the backup function.   Once out of the 
  27. program,  enter 'BACKUP' from your hard drive to place today's current data 
  28. onto a data disk reserved for this purpose.  Place a write-protect tab onto 
  29. that  disk and,  if space permits,  create a second  subdirectory:  '\ACS'.  
  30. Then copy EVERYTHING from '\PROSPECT' to '\ACS'.    Once done, delete every 
  31. file  in  '\PROSPECT' and then delete the directory entry itself with  this 
  32. command:
  33.                               RMDIR PROSPECT
  34.  
  35. Observe  the  files on your data disk,  where the backup up data  is  kept.   
  36. Let's say the file containing today's backup is:  '0520ACS.ARC'  This means 
  37. that you performed the backup on month '05', day '20', or May 20th.  
  38.  
  39. Take the new version of IN-CONTROL [TM] and install it onto your hard drive 
  40. as  per  the instructions in 'GO' and 'GO2' on the  floppy  masters.   Once 
  41. installed,  the  program  will ask you to restart the  computer,  and  then 
  42. execute 'GO'.  This 'GO' will then drive the program, PROSPECT.EXE.
  43.  
  44. Once  you are in the program,  observe that you are in the 'Test Data,'  as 
  45. identified in the Main Program Menu.   Upon seeing '== Test Data ==' on the 
  46. Main Program Menu, exit the program altogether and perform these two steps:
  47.  
  48.    NEW1REAL    <=========== you type this, follow by 'Enter'
  49.    ARCE A:0520ACS.ARC  /R   <======== you type this, followed by 'Enter'
  50.                               [you adjust the '0520' portion for the
  51.                                actual date: '05' is May, '20' is 20th day]
  52.  
  53. This  will take all of your data from the most recent backup and restore it 
  54. to your hard drive.

  58. Execute  'GO'   from your subdirectory.   The program will again  lead  you 
  59. through  the  installation process.    The 'NEW1REAL' command  you  entered 
  60. earlier  has  forced the program to reinstall.   Once you  go  through  the 
  61. installation menus again, the program will ask you to reboot or restart the 
  62. system.   At  this point,  ignore that restart message and invoke 'GO' from 
  63. the  subdirectory.   You should be greeted as a Registered User.   If  not, 
  64. repeat  this  entire  process  ONCE.  If  you  are  still  not  greeted  as 
  65. Registered, then call me.

  67. Retain  the  subdirectory '\ACS' for a few days until you are certain  that 
  68. the upgrade in '\PROSPECT' was successful.  Once you are satisfied of that, 
  69. delete everything in '\ACS'.

  72.                  if your version is prior to version 2.645   
  73.  
  74. Copy all files ending in the letters 'DBF' and 'DBT',  if any,  to a floppy 
  75. disk on drive A.  Place a write protect tab on that disk.  This is now your 
  76. 'Backup'  disk.   If  you have a subdirectory  called  '\PROSPECT',  delete 
  77. everything  in  that  directory  and then the directory  itself  with  this 
  78. command:

  80.                                RMDIR PROSPECT

  82. Take the new version of IN-CONTROL [TM] and install it onto your hard drive 
  83. as per the instructions in 'GO' and 'GO2'.   Once installed but BEFORE  you 
  84. execute 'PROSPECT',  replace the 'GO2' disk in drive A with the data backup 
  85. disk.  Then, from your hard drive, '\PROSPECT', enter this command:

  87.                                COPY A:*.DBF
  88.                                COPY A:*.DBT  [if any]
  89.  
  90. This will take all of your data from the most recent backup and restore  it 
  91. to your hard drive.   As a final step, delete all files ending in 'NTX', if 
  92. any,  with this command:
  93.                                  DEL *.NTX    
  94.  
  95. Then   execute  'GO'  from  your  subdirectory  and,   after  the   initial 
  96. installation process,  you should be greeted as a Registered User.  If not, 
  97. repeat  this  entire  process  ONCE.  If  you  are  still  not  greeted  as 
  98. Registered, then call me.
