WHAT'S NEW
An Abbreviated History of Quick Dial
Version 1.0 released July 17, 1990
Version 1.1 released September 3, 1990
-- Deletes the built-in XMODEM-CRC and YMODEM-CRC transfer
protocols.
-- Enables a half-duplex mode. This option is now available
when setting the communications parameters.
-- Enables sending many lower-ASCII characters through to the
modem.
Version 1.2 released October 14, 1990
-- Enables ANSI emulation to exist with ASCII uploading. This
makes Quick Dial compatible with BBS's that send embedded ANSI
ESCape sequences in their message prompts.
-- Makes ANSI emulation more cautious. Quick Dial no longer
assumes that a BBS or an ANSI paint program sends proper ANSI
ESCape sequences.
Version 1.3 released February 1, 1991
-- Makes Quick Dial Windows-compliant. It will now run in
background and in a window in Windows 3.0 on a '386 or better
platform. Quick Dial includes .ICO and .PIF files for Windows
users.
-- Changes the scroll back buffer access key from Alt-F4 to
Alt-F9 to avoid a conflict with Windows 3.0.
-- Includes a new feature, Q-FIND -- so users can locate any
character, word or phrase in the scroll back buffer.
-- Greatly speeds up the routines which capture characters
from the communications port and emulate ANSI ESCape sequences.
-- Supports modem speeds up to 9600 bps.
-- Includes XMODEM checksum download (receive), and upload
(send), protocols to help beginners get started.
-- Enables ANSI emulation to handle a Device Status Report
(DSR) request from the host BBS, and respond with an ANSI escape
sequence to the host BBS. This makes Quick Dial compatible with
certain BBS (like WWIV 4.12) that make use of this feature.
-- Changes several of Quick Dial's dialing result messages
-- Enables an optional path name to be entered when
downloading files using external file transfer protocols.
