- CATALOG ON A DISK
-
-
- ABOUT THE CATALOG...
-
- The catalog contains over 1100 selected Shareware and Public
- Domain software titles. Each of these programs have been tested
- and reviewed for use on a IBM or compatible computer that has at
- least 256k RAM, DOS 2.x or better, and a CGA or Monochrome graphics
- card and monitor. Additional requirements are listed in the
- descriptions of each individual program.
-
- Throughout the catalog files occupying less than 120k of disks
- space have been tagged with the Bonus! message. Because of their
- small size we allow you to choose any three of these programs to be
- copied onto a single 360k disk! Six Bonus! disk can be copied onto
- a 720k disk! This gives you more programs for your money without
- having to buy half empty disks containing only one small program or
- a full disk with a bunch of programs you don't want or need. So
- take advantage of the Bonus! programs, many of them are some of the
- best in the catalog!
-
-
-
- WHAT IT IS...
-
- The catalog on a disk is a program for viewing descriptions of
- the Shareware and Public Domain software in our library. It will
- allow you to print out a "Short" catalog and has the ability to tag
- files then write their names and numbers to disk. After writing
- your choices to disk you can print out a list of tagged files or
- take the disk to your shareware dealer so the file numbers can be
- "read in" and the programs you want can be copied.
-
- REQUIREMENTS
-
- The Catalog on a Disk program will run on any PC compatible
- computer with 128k or more RAM and DOS 2.x or better. It looks
- best on a color monitor (But will run on any kind. If you are
- using monochrome start the catalog with the /m parameter.) and will
- support a microsoft compatible mouse. It can be used with any
- configuration of drives. Hard disks, single floppies and dual
- floppies can all be used to their best advantage.
-

-
- USING THE CATALOG PROGRAM...
-
- When the program first comes up it has three menu choices.
- They are:
-
- 1. Select Program Categories
- 2. Review tagged files
- 3. Write tagged files to disk
- 4. Search displayed file
-
-
- Select Program Categories
-
- The first thing to do is choice #1, Select Program Categories.
- After pressing 1 the program will display a list of four file
- choices and more than 70 different categories of shareware and
- public domain programs.
- The first four choices are either text files that can be
- viewed or batch files that will perform various functions. (Such as
- printing the catalog, order forms, etc.) The rest are program
- categories that our files have been divided into.
-
- Hi-light a program category then press ENTER. A list of all
- the files in that category will be displayed. You can now use the
- PGUP/PGDN, HOME/END and ARROW keys to move about in the document.
-
- When you find a program you like you can use the ARROW keys to
- hi-light the file name then press the INSERT or + key to tag it.
- Pressing the DELETE or - key will un-tag it. After you've tagged
- all the files you want in this category press the ENTER key to save
- the tagged files and return to the main menu.
-
-
- Review Tagged Files
-
- From the main menu you can now select another category to view
- or review the names of the files you have already tagged. (2.
- Review Tagged Files) When reviewing files that have been tagged
- you can delete them by pressing the DEL key.
-
- Write Tagged Files to Disk
-
- After tagging all the files you like you can write them to a
- file on disk that can be "read in" by your shareware dealer. The
- program will also write a text file called TAGGED.LST. This file
- contains the names and numbers of each file you tagged. You can
- print this to have a hard copy of your tagged files.
-
- Search Displayed File
-
- At any time you can press the number 4 to enter a string to
- search in the currently displayed file. This feature performs a
- NON-CASE SENSITIVE search. This means the program will find
- occurrences of a string whether it is capitalized or not or any
- combination of capitalized or non capitalized letters. This option
- does not show up on the menu unless you use the arrow keys to
- scroll down to it. Use the ENTER key to repeat the search or press
- ESC to return to the main menu.
