Prices have changed since the previous release, first because now
the NON-commercial users also must pay for a license, second because
the US dollar has a very low transfer rate.
Copyrights and License Agreement
────────────────────────────────
- Users of the MTA-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
- The MTA-package is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
which may result from the use of the MTA-package;
- The MTA-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends,
but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.
The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.
- If you find this program useful and find that you are using and
continue the use of the MTA-package after a 30 days trial period,
you must register the MTA-package as described below;
- Non-commercial can get a license for the usage up to this release
of the MTA-package for a small amount of money. Look into the
details in this file. Previous registered users will receive
a big reduction to upgrade to the newer versions. These users
should look into the details in UPGRADE.MTA.
For Non-commercial users there is a POSSIBILITY to submit to one
of the special contracts as explained in this file;
- Commercial usage of MTA will cost somewhat more. Also, a so called
'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must pay
direct to the SysOp to get full access) is has to pay more than
a Non-commercial user. Both types of users should look into the
details in this file;
- The registration of the MTA-package will license ONE copy for use on
any computer at any one time, as long as the usage confirms to the
type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when you
have a non-commercial license);
- Anyone distributing the MTA-package for any kind of remuneration must
first contact the Author at the address above for authorization.
- You are encouraged to pass a copy of the MTA-package along to your
friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their
copy if they find that they can use it;
- When you are a non-commercial user of MTA and you are depending
on the software, you can consider to pay a small amount of
money for service. The terms for this option can be found in
the file REGISTER.MTA.
- Support on MTA, when used in a non-commercial environment, is
available even when you don't enter a service contract, but the
payed users (both commercial users and non-commercial users with
a service contract) have higher priority;
- Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm> Echomail
conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo does
not exclude you of the duty to register the MTA-package, though users
who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;
- The MTA-package, all programs, the documentation and support-files is
copyrighted 1990 by Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, Badhoevedorp
1170AC, Holland. All rights are reserved. You may copy this package
for backup purposes. Also you may copy and share unmodified copies of
the whole package, providing that the copyright notice is reproduced
and included on all copies.
Excluded from this statement are the support-files written by other
authors. Please refer to the documentation of these programs for
copyrights and license agreements;
- Comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and will be answered
as soon I have the time to do so. You can send me a letter of leave a
NetMail <tm> message named to Rob Van.hoeven (mind the point) on node
2:512/100 (RA Support, Monster, Holland, SysOp is Reinier de Groot).
When you want to send me normal mail, address it to:
Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, 1171 AC Badhoevedorp, Holland;
Also you can enter messages in the FidoNet <tm> DISP Echomail <tm>
area;
Registration information
────────────────────────────────────
There are several ways to register the usage of the MTA-package. All
is depending on the environment where MTA will be running.
NON-Commercial registration
────────────────────────────────────
When you use MTA in a non-commercial environment, the registration is
simple and rather cheap if you consider all the time I have put into
this product. As NON-commercial user, you must pay for a Non-commercial
license.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the MTA-package in a
NON-commercial environment on any computer at any one time;
- A diskette with the latest copy of the MTA-package on 5 1/4 or
3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
- A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
header of MTA. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
- The license for NON-commercial usage can not be used in any other
environment than the NON-commercial environment itself. Upgrading
to a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be
done by paying the difference in price between the current license
and the new license;
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
nor does it include the 90 days support service.
The price for a NON-commercial license is US $ 20,--.
Commercial registration
────────────────────────────────────
When you use MTA in a commercial environment or when you use MTA on
a so called 'closed' BBS (this is a BBS where the users must pay to
the Sysop to get full access), you must pay for a license to use MTA.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the MTA-package in a commercial
environment on any computer at any one time;
- A diskette with the latest copy of the MTA-package on 5 1/4 or
3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
- A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
header of MTA. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
- The license for a 'closed' BBS can not be used in any other commer-
cial environment than the BBS itself. Upgrading to a 'normal' com-
mercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
nor does it include the 90 days support contract.
The price for a commercial license is US $ 75,-- for a normal
commercial user or US $ 30,-- for a 'closed' BBS.
Support contract
────────────────────────────────────
Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter a support con-
tract. Paying the fee for a support contract, entitles you to:
- Free support (by Fidonet <tm> Netmail or by mail) for the first 90
days after payment;
- This support consists of answering questions and fixing any program
errors the owner of the support contact submits to me in person.
Only program errors that can be reproduced and that interfere with
the intended use of the program as outlined in the documentation
(MTADOCEN.DOC) will be fixed. The author can ask you to give some
special data (sometimes on a diskette) to correct the problem and
can ask you to check if you own a valid copy of the MTA-package;
- The author may choose not to fix any problem that is related to
hardware and/or software configurations and that causes one or more
of the programs in the MTA-package not to run correctly. In this
case the author can be asked for a refund of the support contract
for the unused part of the contract, starting the date the problem
was submitted to the author and ending at the end of the 90 day
period;
- One special customized copy of a full-screen configuration program,
so you can do your configuration of MTA with a Q&A-type of program;
- The author makes no other warranties, expressed or implied, and this
warranty is expressly limited to the cost of the support contract
fee;
After paying the support fee, you will receive a written description
on how to enter problems or suggestions.
The price for a support contract is US $ 25,-- for a NON-commercial
environment and US $50,-- for both commercial and closed BBS
environment.
Update service
────────────────────────────────────
Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter the update ser-
vice. International users who use MTA commercial or non-commercial
will benefit most of this feature. Paying the fee for update service,
entitles you to:
- Receiving every new release (minor AND major) for the period of
one year or 10 releases (which ever comes first) on diskette
media by first-class Airmail;
- The updates will be send the same day the new release is submitted
to the support BBS (2:512/100 in Holland);
- The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
will contain a special diskette label;
The price for update service is US $ 30,-- for 5 1/2 inch (360Kb) dis-
kettes and US $ 40,-- for 3 1/2 inch (720Kb) diskettes.
Paying
────────────────────────────────────
- By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
(if they are not EuroCheques) will cost me extra money to transfer,
so add US $ 10,-- for transfer if you use such a cheque. Cheques
that can not be collected within a reasonable time, are returned to
the sender;
- EuroCheque written out on :
- Robert W. van Hoeven
Badhoevedorp
- Giro-cheques (only dutch) written out to the name above;
- Sending money directly, but please make sure you send it with
some kind of safety, so you can make sure yourself that I received
the money. When you send money, you can also send money in your
own currency, but make sure to use a valid exchange rate. This is
the exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;
In NO way I can accept credit-card transfers. If you are not sure,
please contact me by normal mail !
Dutch users can also pay in dutch money. Transfer the amount of dutch
money in one of the above ways. Use the exchange rate on the day of
transfer as found in the newspaper of that day).
