  18. This file isn't "How to use a diverter",
  19. it's more like "how to get lots of them
  20. as fast as I can to make confrences and
  21. trace-free calls without getting nailed"
  22. I will discuss several ways to do this..
  23. I wrote the text file in 40 column even
  24. though I have 80 so everyone vith 40 col
  25. can read it easily. And so when/if you
  26. print it out you can waste half the
  27. paper!!

  30. HOW TO FIND THEM: METHOD ONE-
  31. needed-
  32.    The Yellow Pages
  33.    touch tone phone
  34.    Your areas ANI phone number
  35.  
  36. Okay. Open the phone book to PLUMBERS.
  37. Find one that says 24 hour service
  38. or something like that. Dial the #.
  39. Let it ring. You should hear a click,
  40. then a ring. that is the call diverting.
  41. the other ring often sounds different.
  42. get the other people to hang up. now,
  43. THIS IS VITAL: DONT ANNOY THEM! They're
  44. not dumb and will catch on if you do.
  45. ask in  foreigner type voice "Is Abdul
  46. there?" or something like that. they
  47. will hang up. Wait for a dial tone,
  48. then dial the ANI number. Thats the
  49. thing when you dial it it reads back
  50. your number. if it says your number,
  51. then its not  a diverter. Try another
  52. plumber and take your business elsewhere
  53. but if  it reads a different number, its
  54. a diverter.. It wont be the number you
  55. dialed though. Write down the number you
  56. dialed somewhere. Now you have a diverter.
  57. Other people to do this to are Doctors,
  58. Electricians, or anyone with 24-hour
  59. service in their ad.

  61. Problems with diverters:

  63. Some diverters have security features
  64. in them to keep out the big bad phreaks.
  65. For example, Radio Shack  sells
  66. diverters. They hang up on you(and
  67. disconnect the call) either after five
  68. or ten minutes, depending on what the
  69. owner sets a switch to. I hate those.
  70. Also, some diverters click when used.
  71. every minute or so. If you dial
  72. ALLIANCE and it wont go though, then
  73. dial 10288 first then alliance.
  74. this will rout the call through AT&T.

  76. Why Diverters Are Superior:
  77. ---------------------------------------
  78. Often if you use a diverter thats local
  79. to you you get a great connection. Why?
  80. Your dialing off of its dial tone as if
  81. it was your own, but not getting billed
  82. of course. Diverters dont trace or have
  83. ANI like those nasty 950 companies.
  84. They reach any number that you can..
  85. If you call a number that traces with
  86. a diverter(Gvmt/TRW/etc) it gets the
  87. DIverter number and not yours. You
  88. are safe, the Plumber/Doctor has some
  89. serious explaining to do to the feds.
  90. As well as a large phone bill that
  91. he dosent know where it all came from.

  94. HOW TO FIND THEM: METHOD TWO-

  96. you need-
  97.      A PAYPHONE(unless your in
  98.                 Crossbar, but still
  99.                 WATCH OUT!)
  100.      The number to the Credit Operator

  102. I reccomend using a payphone for this
  103. one since you are screwing with your
  104. local telco who dosent like you much.

  106. Ok, dial the credit op. Ask for the
  107. AT&T CREDIT OPERATOR. They should put
  108. on some lame recording. Wait till its
  109. over then wait for a dial tone. Hit
  110. 9+1+Area Code and Phone Number.
  111. This is convenient if you have no
  112. quarter. This is how it works:
  113. 1) you call credit op and ask
  114.    for at&t credit op
  115. 2) Op hits button to DIAL number
  116.    with recording. Op lets go
  117.    of button to talk to you(IE: goes
  118.    on to next person with ques.)
  119. 3) Recording Ends. It hangs up but
  120.    you dont. you get a dial tone:
  121.    THE CREDIT OPS DIAL TONE!!!
  122. 4) Dial 9+1+Area Code and Number.

  124. I reccomend hitting 9+ANI the first
  125. time you do this to make sure it works in your area.
