  10. Another Note: This is an info file. I
  11. do not advise using this info, but if
  12. you want to, what the hell? I can' stop
  13. you.

  15. Ok.. here's what you need:
  16.  
  17. 1 Blank (un-used) Q-Link Disk
  18. 1 Q-Link Special Certificate Number
  19. 1 Visa/Mastercard (helps if it works)
  20. 1 Name/Address/Fone # Combonation
  21.  
  22. Ok do it like this:

  24. Get your handy-dandy fone book out,
  25. and comb through it for something that
  26. looks like this:

  28. John O'Connor
  29. 58 Stuart Street
  30. (201)431-0180
  31. Freehold

  33. Scribble something like that down. Dont
  34. just make up a name/address/fone combo,
  35. they'll all have to be for one person..
  36. (discussed later..)

  38. Ok so now put in your disk, and strike
  39. this in:

  41. load"change access",8,1
  42.  
  43. (Take out your lame cartridges, Q-Link
  44. has protection..)

  46. Ok so it's loaded now right? Do this:
  47.  
  48. Go to the access number part. Change
  49. the access number to something local to
  50. the guy's name/number you are using.
  51. (You can just make this one up.)
  52.  
  53. Also change the modem type. Make it
  54. "other command driven modems."
  55.  
  56. You see, when you logon to Q-Link, it
  57. transfers these stats over.. So if you
  58. wish to further cut-down on the chance
  59. of gettin traced, then do as I say.

  61. Ok now make a phone call. Dial up this
  62. number: 1-800-392-8200. Work your way
  63. into the system by doing various number
  64. presses for various info until you hit
  65. the operator. Then feed him/her this
  66. story:

  68. I just bought a Commodore 1670 modem
  69. and it said it came with free Q-Link
  70. software. I looked through the box and
  71. I was really interested in the idea of
  72. Q-Link, so I decided to try it out.
  73. I got to the part where it asked for
  74. some "Special Certificate Number" and
  75. I looked all around the box and
  76. couldn't find one anywhere..
  77.  
  78. They'll then proceed to ask for your
  79. name/fone/address if they haven't done
  80. so already. Then they'll check your
  81. info out. There are two (2) ways they
  82. can do this:
  83.  
  84. 1) Put you on hold, dial directory
  85.    assist, and ask for whoever's name
  86.    on such-n-such a road. If they get
  87.    the number you said, bingo.

  89. 2) Hang up on you, call you in 2 mins.

  92. The 1st is nothing if all is in order.
  93. The second however is impossiable. But
  94. never fear, some operators do things
  95. differantly, and some don't even check.

  97. Ok, so scratch down the number the
  98. guy/gal gives you. It'll look someing
  99. like this:

  101. 50-3991-1028,towels-reign
  102.  
  103. Ok get that down say "Thanks alot!" and
  104. load the disk.

  106. Ok you'll get some thing like this:
  107.  
  108. "Type commands to modem, hit F1 when
  109. connection is made.."

  111. Then you do your standard ATDTxxxxxxx.
  112. Fill the x's with your local Telenet
  113. dialup. (I think we can all figure out
  114. what that is, correct?)

  116. When you see the connect hit the F1 and
  117. go for it. It'll ask some bullshit
  118. questions, like Name and Address.. give
  119. it what you gave your friends at the
  120. 800 number.

  122. Then on method of payment strike in a
  123. card. Pop in the card # + experation
  124. when it asks. Credit-Calc'd cards work
  125. pretty well with Q as they don't check
  126. too well. So if all else fails use some
  127. from there. Also, the experation date
  128. makes NO differance.. for instance I
  129. always use 12/91 on all my cards.. it
  130. dosen't matter at all. Trust me, I know
  131. about these things.

  133. Hmm.. ok next it'll ask if you want to
  134. use like JackMeoff14 for a screen-name.
  135. (Handle). Of course you don't! Hit NO
  136. and put something good in. Then you're
  137. off to the races. Have fun!

  139. The only real effort needed to obtain
  140. free Q-Link accounts is coming up with
  141. an un-used disk.. I have one some of
  142. you may wish to make copies of.

  155. Some people will trade quite a many
  156. good things (like Trw accounts!) for
  157. an account on Q-Link, so this info
  158. could prove usefull.

  160. Alzo.. if you do come across an un-used
  161. Q-Link disk, make a back-up! If you
  162. like Q-Link you will need many copies
  163. of the blank in order to obtain
  164. multiple accounts. Trust me, I know.
