  72. I am sending out the 5th edition Internet Resources: U.S. Federal
  73. Government Information.  New on this edition:  the list moves from
  74. Dalhousie University to UNLV and will be placed on a ftp site.  Also,
  75. I have added some discussion lists and am particulary interested in
  76. local government documents discussion lists.  I hope to add to the
  77. Library Catalogs section in the next edition with more catalogs which
  78. maintain a separate documents catalog.

  80. This list has grown almost beyond what is reasonable and I am seeing
  81. increases in the number and availablity of government gophers.  I
  82. see this as a positive development as more information becomes accessible
  83. on the net and easier to find.

  101. This document is available via anonymous ftp at the University of
  102. Nevada (ftp nevada.edu  directory /liaison).

  104. This guide was compiled primarily for librarians who provide
  105. reference assistance for U.S. Government Documents and contains
  106. telnet, gopher and ftp sites which may assist in providing
  107. reference service for library patrons who need government
  108. information.   It is impossible to fully index Internet sites and
  109. I recommend utilizing Veronica, Archie and gopher servers to locate
  110. more information.  FreeNets also provide easy access to government
  111. information especially for local and state information.  A new
  112. feature on the gopher at the University of Syracuse is Oliver which
  113. provides easy access to many U.S. government sites and gophers.
  114. Also, check out the NST and USDA Gophers which provide easy access
  115. to many U.S. government databases.  Government information,
  116. especially electronic is constantly changing and I welcome any
  117. corrections and suggestions.

  119. A word about gophers; if I know the telnet address and password for
  120. a gopher I have included login instructions.  However, I recommend
  121. you "point your gopher client" to other gophers instead of using
  122. telnet.  This not only facilitates login but may also be easier to
  123. use.  Your computing services can provide you with information on
  124. your institution's gopher capabilities.

  127. ALA/USIA Fellows Program.  As a Fellow to Dalhousie University,
  128. Halifax, Nova Scotia and the University of New Brunswick, Canada I
  129. conducted a number of workshops on U.S. government information.  I

  132. electronic government information.
