  17.    This memo provides information for the Internet community.  This memo
  18.    does not specify an Internet standard of any kind.  Distribution of
  19.    this memo is unlimited.

  21. Abstract

  23.    This memo introduces the IEPG to the Internet Community.  The IEPG is
  24.    an Internet Service Operators' forum, intended to assist Service
  25.    Operators to coordinate in operational aspects of managing Internet
  26.    services.

  28. 1.  Charter of the Internet Engineering and Planning Group
  29.  
  30.    Domain of Activity
  31.  
  32.       The Internet Engineering and Planning Group (IEPG) is a group
  33.       principally comprised of Internet Service Operators.
  34.  
  35.    Goal
  36.  
  37.       The common objective of the group is to promote a technically
  38.       coordinated operational environment of the Global Internet.
  39.  
  40.    Activities
  41.  
  42.       The activities of the IEPG will be within the following areas:
  43.  
  44.      -  To facilitate the operations and management of Global Internet
  45.         services,
  46.  
  47.      -  To promote the introduction of new Internet services within the
  48.         Global Internet, and
  49.  
  50.      -  Liaison with related Internet Operations groups and liaison with
  51.         technical development groups.
  52.  
  53.       Explicitly the IEPG is not a group which will conduct activities
  54.       of a technical developmental nature.

  64.  
  65.       Membership of the IEPG shall be open. Any individual may subscribe
  66.       to the IEPG mailing list, and all meeting announcements, meeting
  67.       agenda, meetings and meeting reports shall be made openly
  68.       available.

  70.    Reporting
  71.  
  72.       The IEPG will maintain an archive of material available using
  73.       World Wide Web (WWW) access tools. The location of this WWW
  74.       archive, and this charter will be disseminated to the Internet
  75.       community through an Informational RFC.

  77. 2. IEPG membership and IEPG mailing list
  78.  
  79.    Membership of the IEPG is open. Any member of the Internet community
  80.    may join the IEPG mailing list. The mailing list is "iepg@iepg.org".
  81.    Anyone may join the list by subscribing to "iepg-request@iepg.org".

  85.    All IEPG material is archived at "http://iepg.org/iepg".
