  4. | CELP is a relatively new digital voice algorithm that permits high quality  |
  5. |       digital voice communications over normal dial-up telephone lines.     |
  6. |                                                                             |
  7. | CELP was originally developed by AT&T Bell Laboratories Engineers working   |
  8. |      with the National Security Agency (NSA). Today, CELP is covered by     |
  9. |      a Federal Standard, Fed-Std-1016.                                      |
  10. |                                                                             |
  11. | CELP stands for "Code Excited Linear Prediction", the technical name        |
  12. |     for the algorithm.                                                      |
  13. |                                                                             |
  14. | CELP digital voice in your STU-III will provide you with the best quality   |
  15. |     digital voice communications available in any STU-III.                  |
  16. |                                                                             |
  17. | The AT&T STU-III with CELP capability is totally compatible with all other  |
  18. |     STU-IIIs. If a non-CELP STU calls a CELP equiped STU, the secure link   |
  19. |     will still be established using either the AT&T 4800 Voice or the       |
  20. |     Interoperable 2400 Voice algorithm.                                     |
