  6. Okay, here is some helpful info, pass it to everyone, share the wealth...

  8. Local calls: You cannot just dial the # then insert money.
  9. You must insert money FIRST!  Because all local calls cost the same.  Problem
  10. is that the dial-tone, mutes out the red-box tones...

  12. Method 1: Hit 0
  13. You:"Mrs.Operator could you dial a number for me, please?"
  14. Operator"<either does or says:> Why?
  15. You: "This keypad has been vandalized"
  16. Operator: "OK <dials #> That'll be 25 cents"
  17. You: "<25cents worth of tones>"
  18. Operator"Thank you" or "Go away you redboxing little creep"
  19.  
  20. The operators in MY area have caught on to this above method (#1)

  22. Method 2 Dial 411
  23. OPerator: "City pleas?"
  24. You: "<City Name>"
  25. OPerator: "Name?"
  26. You: "<name>"
  27. OPerator: "Thank-you"
  28. <You get mechanical voice telling you the #, then it says "Deposit XX cents to
  29. have the # dialed for you>
  30. You: "Mournful of the extra money you're paying deposit enough Quarter(tones)
  31. to cover the charge>

  33. Method #3
  34. The government makes pay-phone owners let the CUSTOMER decide what LD carrier
  35. they want to use.  So, find the access code to some LD carriers( you know like
  36. 10ATT...) and dial the number (With area code)  SOme will reconize this as a
  37. local call, some won't, experiment.

  39. (I haven't done the above (#3) personally.

  42. Dial 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX
  43. Wait for Mr.Phone to say "Deposit XX cents" Pay with quarter tones
  44. (I've found that paying with actual Quarter tones work best, you CAN program
  45. 29 *'s and send them, but it dosen't ALWAYS work.)
