  9.         This file is dedicated to all you phreak/sysops out there who
  10.         run those boards full of Longdistance codes, box plans, etc.

  13.                 Intro:  I purpose of this file is to explain to those
  14.                 sysops in fear of FEDs that they can safly run a board
  15.                 with the above mentioned info.on it.

  18.                 The Fear of the Sysop
  19.  
  20.         The number one fear of a sysop is having a FBI agent get access
  21.         to the stuff on their board that could get them busted.  Today,
  22.         the only thing you can really get busted for is the posting of
  23.         long distance codes.  Therefor, all possible steps must be taken
  24.         to avoid the access of this information.  (Steps will be
  25.         explained latter)

  27.         Due to this fear, Many sysops will NOT have these boards on
  28.         their BBS.  I find it odd that this should be true, but, from
  29.         info from a friend, any users are against having a phreak board
  30.         because they fear losing a BBS to call and getting them selves
  31.         busted (even though a good sysop would delete all user info. as
  32.         soon as he though he was busted.).  I will explain the steps
  33.         taken to stop being busted and perhaps it will bring
  34.         understanding to those who blindly or misinformitly fear these
  35.         boards.

  37.         The first, easyest, and most inportant step comes at validation.
  38.         Voice validate the aplicant for access and ask these questions:
  39.         #1:  Are you a programer for a company and/or do you sell
  40.         software. #2:  Do you work for the government, have connections
  41.         with it, and share info with it? #3:  Do you agree not to use
  42.         any info. found on the board, or heard about the BBS against it?
  43.         If you receive a no to the first two questions and a yes to the
  44.         next then it is O.k. to validate them Any evasive answers should
  45.         be pursued until a definate yes or no is given. Any untruthful
  46.         answers void the right to use info in court due to illegal
  47.         access to system laws.
  48.         
  49.         That is step one, if by some chance a FBI agent still gets in,
  50.         you should still be safe if you use the next procedures.

  52.         Give only people that have done the following access to the
  53.         phreak board:
  54.  
  55.         Admited they are a phreak.
  56.         Given codes.
  57.         Admited that they will use codes for other than educational
  58.         purposes,
  59.  
  60.         That together with the first security procedure and this one you
  61.         should filter out 99.9% of all FBI attempting access.  And if
  62.         you run a BBS for 1 years you be luck if even one FBI agent
  63.         tries for access.

  65.         The final protection is this, ever time someone accesses the
  66.         board a message should be printed that goes something like this:

  68.         Your useing of any info on this board in anyway, forfits the use
  69.         of this info. angainst the system in anyway or else be subjected
  70.         to presucution in a court of law.

  72.         By having this printed each time a person accesses the phreak
  73.         board no one can say they didn't know.

  75.         Now your system is protected if you use those steps.
