  2. The following instructions will allow you to listen to other cellular
  3. phone calls on a Motorola flip phone...However i will warn those which
  4. are common sense deficiant to be very careful when doing this.
  5.  
  6. WARNING: THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS/TECHNIQUES ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL
  7. PURPOSES ONLY AND SHOULD NOT BE DONE BY ANYONE OTHER THAN A TRAINED
  8. AUTHORIZED CELLULAR PHONE TECHNICIAN.

  10. Motorola flip phones can be put into what is called diagnostic mode.
  11. this allows a user to punch in instructions directly from the keypad.
  12. To put the phone in diagnostic mode you must make sure the phone is a
  13. model F or later. There is a serial code sticker on the back of the
  14. phone which will allow you to check. Second, you will want to locate
  15. the middle battery terminal on the phones battery pack. you will want
  16. to ground this contact against the middle terminal on the phone itself.

  18.      Usually taking a little tin foil and rolling it into a ball then
  19. placing it in the recessed middle slot of the phone so it is slightly
  20. raised will usually work.
  21.  
  22.      After you have done this, connect the battery as you usually would
  23. and power up the phone.
  24.  
  25.     If the phone does not power up, turn it off immediatly and make
  26. sure you have not shorted out any of the other two terminals...this can
  27. be dangerous so be carefull
  28.      Now that the phone is in diagnostic mode you can enter the
  29. following commands....most of these are from friends and personal
  30. experince so they might not all work.

  32. 01#----REBOOT
  33.  
  34. 05#----Turns the transmit carrier frequency on
  35.  
  36. 06#----Turns the transmit carrier frequency off
  37.  
  38. 07#----Mutes the audio reciever
  39.  
  40. 08#----Unmutes the reciever audio
  41.  
  42. 11#----Loads or sets frequency synthesizer(experiment with this
  43. one..I.E. 11#1124#
  44.  
  45. 38#-----Disply ESN
  46.  
  47. 32#-----start NVRAM...this clears the timer and resets all programing
  48.  
  49. There are many other commands but these are the ones you need to do
  50. what was stated earlier

  52. STEP 1
  53. type 08# to unmute the reciever audio
  54.  
  55. STEP 2
  56. type 11#xxxx# to set the frequency
  57.  
  58. Thats really it...you might have to experiment with step two a bit to
  59. find a number which works.
