MSWORKS *** For Duke GRP files*** ***********************************************************************
------------------------
** This is version v0.1 **
------------------------
I wrote this FAQ to help you join maps together so you can play a continuos duke . episode!!!!! : )
Files you will need to join maps together are.
KEXTRACT.EXE
KGROUP.EXE
DUKE3D.GRP
USER.CON (Used to change the map level names)
YOUR MAPS !!
*******NOTE*******
Make sure that you have MAPS that have exits (Nuke Buttons) and one map
with a boss for your the last level in your Duke episode.
Make a backup of your DUKE3D.GRP file and your USER.CON file.
Make sure that you now have more than 50 MB of Hard Dive space left
Do the following steps under DOS.
1. Make A new directory. I am calling mine GRP.
2. Copy the KEXTRACT.EXE, KGROUP.EXE, AND THE DUKE3D.GRP Files to your GRP directory.
3.Move to your GRP directory and Type kextract duke3d.grp *.* (THEN HIT ENTER)
4. Now that you have all the files extracted from the DUKE3D.GRP. You need to delete the maps that you want to replace I.E. if you just want to replace the first level of the game you would need to delete the map called E1L1.MAP. Do this for all the maps you wish to replace.
5. Now you need to rename YOUR maps to match the ones you just deleted for I.E. If you have a map called MYMAP.MAP you need to rename it to E1L1.MAP and move it to the directory that you have the extracted DUKE3D.GRP files in.(GRP)
6. Once you have deleted, renamed, and copied. It is time to regroup the DUKE3D.GRP file. To do this GO to you (GRP) Directory and Type kgroup duke3d.grp *.anm *.art *.bin *.con *.dat *.map *.mid *.voc (Then hit ENTER)
***NOTE***
Do NOT use *.* it will put the KEXTRACT.EXE, KGROUP.exe, and what ever else you have in that directory in your new DUKE3D.GRP file and may cause you problems.
7. Once your new DUKE3D.GRP file has been created copy it to your DUKE3D Directory (See why you need to back it up! : )
