  9. Tested on DIAGRAPH and PICTURE PERFECT VERSIONS 3.31, 3.4.1, 3.5, and 4.0.

  14. DIAGRAPH and PICTURE PERFECT have a very sophisticated copy protection.
  15. They cannot be "patched" since a part of the necessary code is missing from
  16. the ".EXE" file. Early versions use PROLOCK, later ones SOFTGUARD.

  19. Not tangled enough, however, as you'll see...

  21. The Copy protection scheme for version 4.0 is changed from earlier versions.
  22. Thus the instructions are different.
  23. Follow the appropriate instructions below:

  26. VERSION 3.3 - 3.5 ... (NOT version 4.0)

  28. CSAM.COM (CSAM.EXE on earlier versions) is the heart of the copy protection
  29. for DIAGRAPH and PICTURE PERFECT. This package contains PP.COM (for PICTURE
  30. PERFECT), CONFIG.COM (for CONFIGURATION program), and DIAGRAPH.COM (for DIA-
  31. GRAPH). These small "Loader" programs take the place of:

  33.         CSAM.COM (EXE on v 3.3)
  34.         CSAMOPP.COM (EXE on v 3.3)
  35.         CSAMODI.COM (EXE on v 3.3)
  36.         INSTALL.*
  37.         UNINSTALL.*
  38.         COPYON.*
  39.         COPYOFF.*
  40.  
  41. The above programs are all copy protection stuff and are no longer needed.

  43. Using DIAGRAPH as an example...
  44. Copy DIAGRAPH.COM into the same directory with DIAGRAPH.EXE and the other
  45. supporting files and start it up with "DIAGRAPH" <CR>. That's all there is
  46. to it! No more CSAM garbage!

  49. For PICTURE PERFECT...use PP.COM...
  50. Start it up with "PP/<CHART TYPE>" (e.g. "PP/LINE" <CR>).

  53. To CONFIGURE (either PP or DIAGRAPH)...Use CONFIG.COM...
  54. Start it up with "CONFIG" <CR>

  56. This package works by substituting my programs for CSAM.COM or CSAM.EXE, bypas-
  57. sing the copy protection scheme. My programs are original works, not hacked ver-
  58. sions of programs.

  61. Version 4.0 ...
  62. Version 4.0 of DIAGRAPH and Picture Perfect use a slightly different scheme.
  63. They also use device drivers. CSAM.COM improved a lot with this release, thus
  64. I wrote this unprotect incorporating it, rather than bypassing it.

  66. DIAGRAPH and/or PICTURE PERFECT version 4.0 already installed:
  67. Uninstall DIAGRAPH and PICTURE PERFECT using COPYOFF on your CSAM disk.
  68. After uninstallation is complete, copy the files CSAMOPP.COM and CSAMODI.COM
  69. (from this package) to the same directory as CSAM.COM. (Usually C:\CSAM).
  70. Make sure that CSAM.COM (from the CSAM disk) is also in that directory. Start
  71. the program in the usual way. (CSAM <CR>).

  73. New installations:
  74. In order to use this package, make a copy of the original CSAM disk with
  75. DISKCOPY, then lay the original aside. Use COPYON to install DIAGRAPH or
  76. PICTURE PERFECT according to instructions, using your copied CSAM disk.
  77. When you get to the hard-disk installation stuff, the COPYON program will balk
  78. of course, reporting an error. Just continue as instructed (hit Ctrl-C for
  79. stubborn cases), and the program will tell you that you'll have to use a
  80. key disk. Ignore this and complete the procedure. After installation is
  81. complete, copy the files CSAMOPP.COM and CSAMODI.COM (from this package) to
  82. the same directory as CSAM.COM. (Usually C:\CSAM). Make sure that CSAM.COM
  83. (from the CSAM disk) is also in that directory. Start the program in the usual
  84. way. (CSAM <CR>).

  86. Notes:
  87. COPYON (as supplied with version 4.0) is not REQUIRED, but is helpful for
  88. installing the original programs. This package works by substituting my
  89. versions of CSAMOPP.COM and CSAMODI.COM for the originals, which are SOFTGUARD
  90. loaders. My programs are original works, not hacked versions of programs.
