  2.                    Telegard & Renegade Hints (Bugs)

  5.         Telegard and Renegade boards are the most used boards around.
  6.         The other boards like SearchLight, Major BBS, Unix, Maximus, etc.
  7.         aren't really that good.  But Telegard and Renegade boards,
  8.         to me, are the best and the most user friendly.  Since they are
  9.         so user friendly they should be easy to mess with...
  10.  
  11.         The following hints are really just bugs in the software.  There
  12.         is no way you can actually hack either of the boards by using
  13.         this text file.  This text file is just a list of a few bugs
  14.         that were found in Telegard & Renegade that might help you in
  15.         your way to driving a SysOp insane.

  18.                               - Telegard -
  19.  
  20.         1)  When logging in NEW press ALT-255 (Ascii Space) when it
  21.              asks you for your handle.  This will allow you to either
  22.              logon twice with your same handle or using someone else's.
  23.

  25.         2)  Use ALT-255 and use the SysOp's handle.  This will make
  26.              the SysOp a little paranoid if he doesn't know about the
  27.              ascii space command.  
  28.              
  29.              Many SysOps will start locking out new users and up the 
  30.              security a little bit because they think that their board 
  31.              is going to get hacked.

  34.         3)  Rename a file that is full of ascii and name it to the
  35.              computers clock string ($CLOCK, CLOCK.$$$, CLOCK$ something
  36.              like that).  When you upoload it the board will automatically
  37.              think it is the real clock string and will start reading 
  38.              your ascii file.  This will totally mess up the internal
  39.              clock in the computer.

  42.         4)  If the SysOp is stupid and hasn't taken the ARCHIVE menu off
  43.              of his board then you can have some real fun.  Upload a virus
  44.              or a file with a .BAT file inside or something to the affect
  45.              and make it screw his system up.  Go into the archive menu
  46.              and run the .BAT file or the virus or whatever you gave to 
  47.              him.  It will do whatever you told it to do...

  50.         - Auto Validation -
  51.  
  52.         5)  If the board has Auto-Validation set to ON this could probably
  53.              be the best time you will ever have...
  54.  
  55.             Logon NEW with a fake account.  Just start screwing around
  56.              on the board.  This is real stupid, but it's fun.
  57.  
  58.             Logon NEW with the SysOp's account and start posting messages
  59.              and automessages about how the board is going to go down
  60.              in a few days.  This is very affective if the SysOp is away 
  61.              from the computer for a few days.

  63.             Logon NEW with the SysOp's account.  Start posting messages
  64.              full of cuss words telling people that they are motherfuckers
  65.              and stuff like that.  The users will get real angry at who?
  66.              THE SYSOP!  The SysOp will have no users after a week of
  67.              you yelling at them.

  69.             If the board has FidoNet or some other kind of net start
  70.              posting messages all over the place saying you have dildos
  71.              for sale and stuff like that.  It doesn't matter what name
  72.              you use when you do this because the people who run the net
  73.              will get real mad anyways, but if you use the SysOp's name
  74.              it will surely get him kicked off!

  77.             There are others like uploading LOGOFF.BAT files to run things
  78.             and pressing things like @S@S or @A@A and locking up the
  79.             board, but they are all stupid and almost always fail.

  83.                                 - Renegade -

  85.  
  86.              1)  If the Renegade version is lower than 12-25-92 you can
  87.                   press the space bar when it asks you what your
  88.                   handle is while loging in NEW.  This will lock up the
  89.                   SysOp's computer till he reboots.

  92.              2)  When you post a message in versions 1-03-93 and later
  93.                   (only ones I've tested this in) you can hit E for
  94.                   edit, then F for From Who and you can put in any name
  95.                   you want in.  This is good if you post a bad message
  96.                   to someone or if you post in a Net of some sort.  
  97.  
  98.              3)  Renegade boards have a little trouble with using door
  99.                   programs.  Expecially callback doors.  When RG swaps
  100.                   to DOS to run a door it will make a hidden file that
  101.                   is the Swapping file.  It SHOULD delete it when it
  102.                   goes back to the board, but sometimes it doesn't.
  103.                   It almost always leaves a hidden file of about 200k
  104.                   on the system's hard drive if you use a callback door.

  108.         There, that's my file.  It is pretty much worthless, but it might
  109.         give some of you studs *HA* some ideas when you find a lamer
  110.         board that is running TG or something.
