  11. There are 2 traditional methods for 
  12. reading a sealed envelope:
  13.  
  14. Steaming:Ok now everyone has probaly 
  15. seen this one done in the movies.You 
  16. take the envelope and expose the glued 
  17. edge of the envelope to a blast of 
  18. steam and open it as the glue release 
  19. its hold in the paper.This method when 
  20. done correctly,does not rip or other-
  21. wise damage the envelope and allows the
  22. material to be re-inserted and reglued
  23. after a persual.
  24. But this method does have a few faults.
  25. Steaming also has a bad habit of 
  26. wetting the entire surface to a great 
  27. enough degree that it makes the ink run
  28. ,stamps to come off and requires a fair
  29. amount of drying time after use to 
  30. return to its non-wet state.There also 
  31. is the problem that alot of modern 
  32. envelopes require so much steaming 
  33. before it opens that when it dries it 
  34. will never dry to its orignal state,but
  35. instead dries to a different and 
  36. noticable texture.
  37. The second method is:
  38. Needles-The other way is to carefully
  39. undo a corner flap of the target 
  40. envelope.This flap need not be the top,
  41. many envelopes can be unfolded to a 
  42. great enough degree that a 1/4" space 
  43. will appear at the bottom corner.
  44. At this point 2 knitting needles are 
  45. inserted into the gap one on either 
  46. side of the letter.The needles are then
  47. twisted around each other until the 
  48. letter is wrapped into a tube where it
  49. can then be pulled out through the gap.

  51. The letter is then read,copied,photo-
  52. graphed or whaever,and inserted back 
  53. into the envelope in the same fashion.
  54. The gap is then re-folded and or glued
  55. if necessary to return the envelope 
  56. back to its orignal state..
  57. But now the is another way.Not many 
  58. people know about this the pheds have
  59. had access to this little toy for some
  60. years now and its has now arrived on 
  61. the civilian market.

  63. Chemical inspection-Sold in spray or 
  64. aersol container,this alchol-based 
  65. fluid turns any paper even manila 
  66. envelopes transparent for 30 to 60 
  67. seconds!This allows time for the letter
  68. to be read or photographed or whatever.
  69. This feature allows the mail to be read
  70. without ever opening the envelope this
  71. liquid then dries up without ever 
  72. leaving a trace.Its has the added 
  73. advantage of not smearing any ink..
  74. Of course the entire letter may not be
  75. exposed if its folded but this will 
  76. avoid alot of "sticky" situations.This
  77. way you can probably see if its worth 
  78. the time and effort to steam it or 
  79. needle it.Or just read the dam letter.

  81. This chemical is sold by LEA,MICROTRON
  82. ,PK ELECTRONICS etc,etc.The intended
  83. purpose of this is for a letter bomb
  84. visualizer.It ranges from about $35-50
  85. for 6 ounces.Now who the phuck wants to
  86. spend $35-60 certainaly not me so to 
  87. save $49.00 The chemical used is liquid
  88. freon.Its available from chemical or
  89. photographic suppliers and is used to
  90. clean video and film equipment....
