  1.        TAP: OPENING P.O. BOXES

  3. Opening P.O. Boxes: First of all
  4. playing with mailboxes (whether it
  5. blowing them up or stealing the mail)
  6. is a federal so be CAREFUL.  The old
  7. type of PO boxes (the type that have
  8. two wheels marked a-z) are very simple
  9. to open.  To find out the combination
  10. place your finger on the opening button
  11. and give it a hard jerk.  As you do
  12. this watch the right hand wheel very
  13. closely.  You will notice that it
  14. moves slightly.  Turn the wheel to the
  15. next position the wheel and try again.
  16. At one point you will notice that the
  17. wheel stays absolutly still.  This is
  18. the opening letter for this wheel.
  19. The reason this works is that when the
  20. button is hit a cam hits the wheel and
  21. thus jumps.  When the wheel is aligned
  22. to its opening letter the cam falls 
  23. into the cut in the wheel and there is
  24. no movement.
