Files Included In This Package:
───────────────────────────────
WW4REM.DOC ─── WWIV Remove v2.0 Documentation File
WW4REM.EXE ─── WWIV Remove v2.0 Executable File
[2 Files]
What Is It?:
────────────
WWIV Remove is a nifty little utility for WWIV BBS ((c) Wayne Bell)
sysops. It simply takes an extracted text file and removes all of the WWIV
color codes, network routing information, taglines, and end-of-line markers
from it, making it much easier to read, and edit later on. Removal of each
WWIV code is optional.
WWIV color codes begin the heart character (ASCII #3), followed by a
number. WWIV Network and tagline information is any line beginning with the
diamond character (ASCII #4), and an end-of-line marker appears as a smiley
face (ASCII #1). WWIV Remove will read and process any size file.
Installing The Software:
────────────────────────
We recommend that you unarchive the software package and move the main
executable file into your main WWIV directory, especially if you will be
installing the WWIV MODification that is included with this archive.
Otherwise, be sure that the location of WWIV Remove is somewhere in your path
for easy access.
Running The Program:
────────────────────
To run WWIV Remove is simple. It requires at least 2 command line
parameters displayed below. Running WWIV Remove without any command line
parameters will cause the program to display a screen of information on how
to call the program correctly. Paramaters displayed can be included on the
command line in any order that you would like.
WW4REM <source file> <destination file> [/H] [/N] [/E]
The <source file> is the file that you wish to remove the WWIV codes
from.
<destination file> is the file in which the removed version is to be
written. This file may be the same as the <source file> if you would
like to overwrite the original file. This is recommended if you will be
installing the extraction MOD file for WWIV included in this archive.
/H - Include this parameter if you wish to remove WWIV's heart color
codes.
/N - Include this if you wish to remove network routing information and
taglines
/E - Include this command line parameter if you wish to remove end-of
line markers from extracted text.
All command line parameters must be separated by a space character, and
if none of the slash commands (the commands preceded by a slash) are
included, WWIV Remove will assume that you wish all three to be active.
Modifying Your Copy Of WWIV To Incorporate WWIV Remove:
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Registered sysop of WWIV v4.23+ have the ability to modify their source
code to include WWIV Remove as part of the extraction routine so that WWIV
codes are removed as desired while the sysop or another user is extracting a
text file. Please refer to the enclosed document file WW4REM.MOD for more
information on the modification process.
For information on registering your copy of WWIV v4.23+, please refer to
your WWIV documentation that was included with the original archive.
Registration:
─────────────
No registration fee is required for this program, but you may make
small donations to Datagen Software Designs to further our cause, and help
in the production of more quality software. You may distribute this program
freely as long as all files are kept together in archived form and not
modified in anyway.
