WFiler ver 1.1 Copyright Michael Dannov 1992
WFiler is a full screen WWIV File Base Editor. It's purpose is to assist in
file base management and updating.
Version 1.0 allows you to modify the descriptions of files and rename files on
the spot. Future versions will include more features, so keep posted.
Make sure that WFILER is in your WWIV directory. To begin, type:
WFILER
Wfiler will prompt you for a directory number that you wish to examine. This
will pull up the directory you request.
To move around in the directory, you can use the all the direction keys. To
edit, think of the WFILER interface as a word processor. All the controls are
very similar. To rename a file, simply type over the original filename. This
will rename the file located in the configured directory as well as modify the
directory database.
If you are are having problems loading WFILER or are experiencing incompat-
ibilities, there are some command line switches you may use to resolve this
problem. [For a quick reference of all available switches, type WFILER /?]
/Mxx - This switch is designed to be used with modified WWIV source and
older versions of WWIV. The xx part is the number of bytes added
to your uploadsrec structure from the 4.2 base. Ie, if you have
added an integer to the uploadsrec structure, you will use /M2
(assuming that you had not changed the order of this structure).
You may use values of 0 to 80. If you do not know this value
try different values and test until data fields line up properly.
NOTE: You cannot modify data in these expanded fields.
* If you are running a version of WWIV lower than 4.2, you might
need to use /M2 modifier to offset the gold integer *
/?, /H - Command Line Reference
If you wish to test error levels through your batch files or shells, error
values are listed below:
Normal exit 0
Error loading CONFIG.DAT 1
Error loading DIRS.DAT 2
Invalid Directory File 3
Error updating data 5
Data does not line up error 6
Critical error in switch 10
-II----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Future releases will include:
A Superior Windowed interface
More Command Line Options
Support for nonstandard (modded) WWIV directory structures
Extended description, uploader, and other file information editing
ANSI screen updating for remote sysop access
Updating, deleting, moving, inserting, ..
File sort
Add files to database from offline directory
Archive viewing, reading, ..
Updates made at exit instead of immediate
Undo and abort changes

Register this software. It's only $5. That's almost free.
It's this simple: if I decide that more people are using this utility than are
registering it, I will simply stop supporting it. That means no further
upgrades (as above), no more enhancements, and no other future WWIV support
utilities. However, if a lot of people register, I will work diligently to
produce new improvements. If there are few, I will work very slow.
Essentially, I will respond to the demand.
The registeration price is $5. At that price you simply cannot lose. This
price includes FREE UPGRADES for all minor release versions, all available
options, BBS support, and full-screen remote-sysop control (when it becomes
available).
The only way you lose is if you do not support the software.
Register by sending $5 to:
