SHAREWARE Notice and Disclaimer:
This program is shareware. If you try it, like it, and find it useful,
then please register it. Registration fee is $5.00. The program is not
cripple ware; however, I may have a few version which supports ascii
messages in addition to the ansi messages. I am not responsible if this
program does any damage to your computer hardware, software, or your
personal psyche.
Program Purpose:
This program allows you to put ansi screens in a directory of your
choice. It then copies them to your GFILES directory as either WELCOME.ANS
or LOGOFF.ANS as appropriate according to one of the following schemes:
Daily--Requires an ansi screen for welcome and logoff for each day
of the month. These must be named welcome.01, welcome.02,...
welcome.31. The logoff screens must be named logoff.01,
logoff.02...logoff.31. Each day of the month will have a
different screen (unless you have used some duplications.
You should install this in a batch file as part of your
external event.
CALLER--This option allows you to specify a number of screens to
be used as random welcome screens. You then number your
ansi screens as above except you need to go no higher than the
number which you specify. This option will have a randomly
selected WELCOME and LOGOFF (if you choose) for each user.
You may install it in a batch file as either your logon or
logoff event.
Both---This option requires a lot of disk space. You specify a
number (say 4) and then make ansi screens numbered as follows:
WELCOME.011 WELCOME.012 WELCOME.013 WELCOME.014. The .01
indicates for day 1 of the month and the final 1...4 are the
screens that it will chose from after each caller. Thus,
using this option you would need 124 screens (31 days x 4)
for your welcome.ans and 124 screens for your logoff.ans.
This option is not recommended as it requires a lot of space.
The batch file can be any legal dos name of your chosing. You then
enter the FILE name that you choose in the INIT portion of WWIV as
either an external event, a logon event or a logoff event as you wish.
The batch file need only call RNDWEL. The first time that you run
the program, it will ask you for some system information (path and
directory where you keep the ansi's and where your GFILES are located.
It will prompt you for the information needed.
NON-WWIV Sysops Note:
This utility is made for use with WWIV. If you run a BBS System that is not
WWIV, I can modify this program for your system if your system has a logon
event (one that runs when a user logs on), an external event (one that runs
once per day), or a logoff event (one that runs when a user logs off). To do
this, I will need to know the standard name for your welcoming screen and your
log off screen as well as the name of the directory where these screens are
kept.
Thanks for using this program.
