INTRODUCTION
-----------------------------------------------------------------
OLVIEW is a Door program that provides a BBS caller with the
ability to view up to four different gif files at once while on
line with any BBS, and in just 3 to 4 minutes, reguardless of the
size of the gif files being viewed. This is made possible with
Jay Wherly's wonderful gif viewer/utility, GIFDESK.
YOUR SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
To use the OLVIEW door, you must make sure that two things are in
place on your system. The door requires that your system have
an ANSI graphics driver installed, and that you have Bill
Parquet and Dave Sharpless's SHOWGIF loaded before you run your
communications program. Be advised that SHOWGIF is a first
class Shareware program. If you use the OLVIEW door (which
means that your using SHOWGIF), then you MUST register SHOWGIF.
See SHOWGIF doc's for information on registering your copy.
HOW IT WORKS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
OLVIEW is a door program that will ask you for up to four gif
file names, verify that they exist on the system that you are
calling. It will then build a view gif file that contains a
smaller image of the gif(s) you named and download it to you with
the file transfer protocol of your choice. SHOWGIF will display
this view file while downloading. There are two choices available
when building your view file: 1) small, 2) medium. The small
file will build and transfer quicker, but the medium file will
provide a larger picture of the gifs you have chosen to view.
The entire process takes 3 to 4 minutes with even the largest
gif files.
USING THE OLVIEW DOOR
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The door will display a warning message when it begins, and ask
you which file transfer protocol you whish to use. Next, enter
the desired display format: 1) small, 2) medium. You may then
enter up to 4 gif file names (including the .GIF extension) that
you would like to preview.
The system will then build your preview GIF, and transfer it to you.
Begin your download when prompted to do so. SHOWGIF will display
the preview GIF file while the download is in progress. You may
repeat the process if you wish when the download is complete.
Please message the sysop with any problems found when using OLVIEW!
