  4.    This is a fully functional version of ASR, or Automatic Strings
  5. Remover.  For complete documentation, please refer to ASR.DOC.  your ASR131.ZIP
  6. file should contain the following files:
  7.     README.TXT (your reading it)
  8.     ASR.EXE    (the executable file)
  9.     ASR.DOC    (complete documentation)
  10.     UPDATE32.DOC (last minute changes to ASR)
  11.  
  12.    Before you can start using ASR, you must make sure that you have ESM
  13. version 1.04 or later installed properly.  Then you can start to use ASR on
  14. your WWIV source code files.
  15.  
  16. QUICK GUIDE TO WHAT ASR DOES:
  17. =============================   
  18.    
  19.    ASR works to automatically remove strings from WWIV source code files
  20. and place them in a STRINGS.TXT or other strings file for ESM to convert to
  21. STRINGS.DAT.  This eliminates the need to manually remove strings from every
  22. file that you wish to use ESM on.  Plus, it has many features that are very
  23. handy for string removal, one being full commenting support.  To completely 
  24. understand why you need/want to do this, please refer to the ESM 
  25. documentation and the ASR documentation.

  27. DISTRIBUTION METHOD:

  30.    ASR 1.31 is freeware, and therefore you are not obligated to send me
  31. any money if you use it.  However, future software development and follow up
  32. releases of ASR and other products depend on your donations.  If you feel
  33. obligated, or just wish to thank me for writing ASR, send any donations to
  34. any of my addresses at the end of the file.  If you wish a disk containing
  35. my other programs as well, please send $5.00 and specify whether you want
  36. 5 1/4 or 3 1/2 inch disks.  You can also send me a note requesting a list of
  37. available software for free.
