Uploaded Files Report Generator for Spitfire 3.1 BBS Systems
------------------------------------------------------------
The following files are included in ULREPORT Version 3.1:
ULREPORT.EXE may be configured as a Spitfire event or
may be run from the DOS command line.
ULREPORT.DOC is this documentation file.
REGISTER.DOC contains registration information and order
form.
ULREPORT FEATURES
-----------------
The following features are available with ULREPORT
Shareware Version 3.1:
1. ULREPORT.EXE may be run as a Spitfire event. When
configured in this manner the current Callers.log may be
read and the report generated at intervals you specify. One
example would be to run ULREPORT just prior to pruning the
callers.log.
2. ULREPORT.EXE will allow you to create a report of previous
uploads by specifying any callers log file that has been
previously pruned such as 25MAR91.LOG or you may append
several such files into one log file which is ordered from
oldest to newest.
3. This unregistered version of ULREPORT will report on up
to 100 uploaders and allows for up to 100 uploads for each.
4. ULREPORT may be used to automatically generate a
Bulletxx.bbs (that you specify). The program may be
configured to generate any ASCII filename that you specify.
5. ULREPORT's report is a convenient way to put your uploaded
file information on one place for your reference and to
inform your BBS users.
6. ULREPORT's report helps downloaders to determine the origin
of a file and gives them the name of the person to contact,
through your message base, with comments or questions.
7. ULREPORT's report provides an obvious incentive for
uploaders by crediting them for their efforts.
8. This is the Shareware version of MSI's ULREPORT.
The registered version of this program offers the following
benefits:
- A program complied especially for you which contains
your BBS board name hard-coded into the software and
appearing on screens and printouts. All references to
registration or Shareware are removed.
- Registered users will be supported through my 24 hour
BBS. Also, should newer versions become available, you
will be able to find out the details of changes or new
features before deciding to upgrade.
The Program Order Form (REGISTER.DOC) should be included in this
archive. If it is not, please contact me as Sysop of:

INSTRUCTIONS
------------
ULREPORT.EXE may be run from your Spitfire Work Directory. If it is
not, then the full path name to the Callers.log, or other input
file, must be specified as the input filename. Alternately, you may
copy your current Callers.log or any previous callers.log (such as
25MAR91.LOG) to the directory from which you are running
ULREPORT.EXE. Type ULREPORT /M (exactly) from the DOS command line
and hit enter.
The Output file you specify will contain an ASCII report listing
which callers uploaded which files to your system. This report
may be edited as you choose. The output file must be provided as a
valid filename or path\filename.
Configuring ULREPORT.EXE As An Event
------------------------------------
Example 1:
:EVENT_A
cd\sf\work
ULREPORT /I callers.log /O C:\SF\DISPLAY\BULLET10.BBS
CD\SF
GOTO LOOP
Note that it is mandatory that /I and /O be followed by one (1)
space. /I is your input file and /O is the output filename.
There is to be exactly one space following the input filename or
pathname. The spacing of the command line must be exactly as above
or you will get unpredictable results and errors. The above
example presumes that ULREPORT resides in your sf\work directory.
Example 2:
ULREPORT /M
Run ULREPORT from the DOS command line with the /M option. When
asked for the input filename entries such as 25MAR91.LOG or
C:\SF\WORK\18MAR91.LOG are permitted. When asked for the output
filename entries such as ULREPORT.TXT or
C:\SF\DISPLAY\BULLET10.BBS are permitted.
The input filename must be the name of an existing file (and in
the format of a standard Spitfire Callers.log), with a DOS legal
filename and one that DOS can find. The output file must be a
legal filename and (if specified) pathname.
User Supported Software
This program is distributed under the User Supported Software
Concept. User Supported Software is a way to allow
you to review the program, test its operation on your
system configurations, and determine whether or not you
feel the program is suitable for you and your users before
you have to register it. We encourage Sysops to freely
distribute ULREPORT through their system provided the integrity
of the files is not changed in ANY way.
If, after a trial period of 30 days, you find that ULREPORT
fulfills your needs, you must register your copy. If you
do not register it, then you must stop running it. Registration
is the only way to obtain technical support from the author.
