REMEMBER: You must rerun SETUP after installing a new version!
Version 1.2d
Properly clears the line on which embedded archives are displayed so
files with multiple archives will look better
Improvements to GIF support in 1.2 which prevented partial GIFs from
passing also prevented GIF89a's with comment extensions from passing
ATTACH uploads occasionally used an incorrect color scheme on the
remote display only
Version 1.2c (01/19/94)
Number of files is now correct (it was incorrect only in the 1.2x versions
of PCBCheck) when you ask PCBCheck to append number of files to
description
Running SETUP will now clear the PCBCHECK.LOG file
Version 1.2b was distributed with DEBUG mode turned on. The only symptom
would be a PCBCHECK.LOG file which contained verbose session specific
information rather than a cumulative error log
Version 1.2b (01/07/94)
I think I finally fixed the error -2 as well as an occasional problem
in which no output was sent to the remote screen, and I think this
warrants a new version (even if I've already released a version
today!)
Version 1.2a (01/07/94)
First, this WHATS.NEW file now refers to version 1.2 as version 1.2,
not version 2.0 (I was a little ahead of myself)
I improved the PKZIP PCC file to better handle directories and
similarly named files
Self-extracting archives are now handled correctly (a last-minute
code change to the original 1.2 release had the side effect of
rendering the self-extracting archive support pretty much useless)
Version 1.2 (01/01/94)
Bug Fixes:
In rare instances (only on machines without SHARE loaded) PCBCheck
would create an access violation and exit with an error code -2
PCBCHECK.LOG should now have correct line spacing
Fixed some pointer problems in the Help screens for Archive support
in SETUP
Last line in FILE_ID.DIZ was clipped if you added the number of
files and date to the description, but the FILE_ID.DIZ didn't end
with a carriage return
GIF integrity testing has been enhanced so partial GIFs can no longer
pass
ATTACH's work correctly now under the newest PCBoard beta's
Embedded archives were (in some cases) copied to the root directory
due to extra spaces inserted in the dearchive command
New Features:
When PCBCheck displays a line of the FILE_ID.DIZ after it replaces the
description with the FILE_ID.DIZ, it now intelligently chooses the
line (it chooses one with a title, or other text, rather than just
the first line, which in FILE_ID.DIZ files is often a border)
You can now specify a RAM disk drive letter (the advantage over simply
moving the work directory to a RAM disk is that should the RAM disk
not have enough space, PCBCheck will then default back to the
work directory).
Registered users can now have PCBCheck display their BBS name in place
of 'REGISTERED'
GIF's can be accepted/rejected based on a minimum resolution
Added new LHA.PCC (okay, I think this one works!)
Changes:
Text OK and FAILED now appear in dark blue instead of dark green, as
some users indicated that the dark green was hard to read on gray.
When a FILE_ID.DIZ contains a line longer than allowed (>45 chars)
PCBCheck now truncates the line rather than continuing it on the next
line. This is because some improperly constructed FILE_ID.DIZ files
had an extra space after the 45th character on a line, causing an
extra (blank) line to be inserted.
Version 1.1a (12/08/93)
No changes were made in this version. PCBCheck 1.1 (very early releases)
contained a corrupt PCC archiver definition file. Though users of 1.1
can easily work around the problem by deleting the corrupt file, I
wanted to replace it as soon as possible.
Version 1.1 enhancements (12/05/93)
Bug fixes:
embedded archives with certain names were not correctly processed
generating internal error code -22
certain choices in the setup program were ignored by PCBCheck (for
example, even if you told SETUP not to process hack reports, if
PCBCheck found a hack report, it processed it anyway).
cleaned up display, removed some overlap/inconsistincies in spacing
ARJ241.PCC did not correctly handle comments (I redesigned the PCC
structure as the 1.0 layout did not allow correct handling by ARJ)
Due to the nature of some configuration file changes, PCBCheck 1.1
cannot read PCBCheck 1.0 configuration files, nor PCC files. These
problems have been corrected so future versions will be able to read
all old configuration/PCC files, or at least not crash, with the
exception of 1.0 files.
New features:
SETUP can now modify your PCBTEST.BAT if needed
Individual conferences can have their own configurations
You can now specify the work directory for PCBCheck (placing the work
directory on a RAM disk speeds up operations to an extent)
Enhanced error logging system to help sysops catch problems with
external programs such as virus checkers or archivers
Changes:
PCBCheck now displays either 'registered' or 'unregistered' in the
title bar, based on the status of the program
