  2.    All of the document files were encased in our own self displaying utility
  3.    engine, SHOW.COM. Aside from allowing you to easily view our documentation
  4.    files on your monitor, there are many features you can control; such as
  5.    changing the display color, printing the text, making an ascii text copy
  6.    etc.  For additional information,  we have taken some excerpts from
  7.    SHOW's documentation and placed it below.

  10.    SHOW incorporates a few features not found in some of the other text
  11.    converters on the market. It is also fairly intuitive to use,
  12.    displaying its entire set of menu choices at the bottom of the screen
  13.    (on line 25) as seen on the next line

  15.   <Esc> (W)rite (G)o (C)olor/(S) (P)rint, Home-End-ArUp-ArDn-PgUp-PgDn,  Ln =00

  17.    You may <exit to dos> anytime by using the Escape key. The Line counter
  18.    at the far right of the menu bar, always indicates the position of the
  19.    very top line. Hence, if you hit <End> and see 975, there are actually
  20.    998 lines (975 plus 23) in the file.

  22.    You can quickly and easily print the document to your line printer by
  23.    selecting (P)rint from the menu.

  25.    Prompt> Is LPT1 Printer READY [y/n] -> y

  27.    SHOW assumes you are using LPT1 (parallel port address 3BCh).
  28.    However, if you are using LPT2 (parallel port address 378h), or LPT3
  29.    (parallel port address 278h) this is no problem. SHOW will allow you
  30.    to toggle between these ports by repeatedly hitting the PrtSc key.
  31.    You will note the LPT# will appear to the extreme left of the last
  32.    (25th) line on standard displays.

  34.    You can also (W)rite the document back into a standard ascii text
  35.    file if desired. After hitting "w" you will be prompted for a standard
  36.    dos file name or handle.

  38.    Prompt> Enter filename to save as   -> minutes.doc

  40.    Please observe not to exceed the dos convention of 8.3        8x3
  41.    (eight.three characters allowed for dos files. (Examp: TEXTFILE.DOC)

  43.    The display screen will have a pleasant default background color of
  44.    cyan with black lettering. The top border and bottom menu line will
  45.    be blue with white lettering. The (C)olor option allows you to change
  46.    (on the fly), the body color of the document. After hitting the
  47.    letter "c", immediately use the up and down arrow keys to toggle
  48.    through the 255 choices. As you toggle the up/dn arrow keys you will
  49.    see the screen change immediately. When you are satisfied with the
  50.    selected colors, hit <Esc> and continue enjoying SHOW! There are 128
  51.    standard choices plus 128 of the same in blinking format.

  53.    Tech Stuff: The color atribute is determined by a single byte that can
  54.    represent an integer from 0 to 255. There are eight basic background
  55.    colors; black, blue, green, cyan, red, magenta (purple), brown and
  56.    white. Each background color may have any one of the eight basic
  57.    colors, plus eight more of the same basic colors in lighter or
  58.    brighter hues, as a forground color. So 8x16 = 128 choices of normal
  59.    color combinations plus another 8x16 (128) of equivalent blinking
  60.    choices. Therefore 128 + 128 = 256 choices (0 thru 255). The toggle
  61.    simply increments or decrements the byte starting with decimal 048
  62.    (the value for producing cyan background with black forground).

  64.    NOTICE: You may save the new color as a DEFAULT by hitting the "s"
  65.    key AFTER changing the color and hitting <Esc>. Caution: the color
  66.    cloning (saving) feature will not operate if you rename the new COM
  67.    text display file.

  69.    The (G)o option request a line number to jump to. You can quickly
  70.    determine the total number of lines in your document by using the
  71.    <End> key after loading and reading the Line counter at the bottom
  72.    right. This feature can save a lot of time in scaning or jumping to
  73.    a particular place in a document.
