  2. This is the WINK history file (WINK.HIS) and it contains a log of
  3. releases and instructions for performing a quick upgrade from the
  4. previous version.

  9. Review the FUTURE PLANS of WINK.DOC to see what is coming up.  Many of
  10. these items are already in beta test, but you knew that didn't you.

  12. If there is a WINK.HLP file in the directory where WINK runs, then it
  13. will be displayed to the user when they first enter the door.  See
  14. WINK.DOC for more info.

  16. There are now a number of new ways to obtain WINK, see WINK.DOC.

  18. Display help screen on startup and make help more clearly available.
  19.  
  20. The naming convention for WINK distribution filenames and magic names
  21. has changed, and a new magic freq name has been added.  Please take
  22. note.  This should be stable, so feel free to make WINK available on
  23. your systems, if you like, using this convention.

  25. Uploaded messages now have correct time, not just 11 o'clock, which
  26. happened to be the current month number.

  28. CONTROL.DAT now uses "AreaName: AreaTitle" for Opus 1.7x
  29.  
  30. Fixed problem where some tear lines are not stripped.

  32. Sysop status bar at bottom of screen is now turned off.

  34. All last read pointers are now updated, even sysop, this includes:
  35. Opus 1.1x - LASTUSxx.DAT, area\LASTREAD
  36. Opus 1.7x - area\LREAD.DAT, area\LASTREAD if in BBS.PRM

  38. WINK resets all directories on all disks back to their original values,
  39. which will eliminate the problem with not being able to reenter WINK.

  41. Added a DOOR.ID file to outbound QWK packets.  It is not required, but
  42. will be used in the future.

  44. The List areas menu option now presents this information.  A flag summary
  45. is shown at the bottom of each page.  The help screen now has a second
  46. page to describe this information.

  50.  1 - 'S' if Selected, '-' if not
  51.  2 - 'W' if Write access, '-' if readonly

  54.  8 - full area title
  55.  9 - QWK area name

  57. Removed space in CONTROL.DAT between door registration # and bbsid, and
  58. made bbsid uppercase.  This was causing a problem with some readers,
  59. such as BlueWave.

  66. Noted in WINK_CFG.DOC that the NEWFILES variable MUST be a filename
  67. that ends with NEWFILES.DAT.  Be sure to modify your CFG file.

  69. Fixed bug when LOGON, LOGOFF, or NEWS are not defined which caused
  70. some readers to go beserk.

  72. Fixed bug where STRIPHIGHASC=YES caused WINK to think you had uploaded
  73. more messages or forged messages.

  75. Fixed bug where only Private personal messages went into the QWK
  76. PERSONAL.NDX.  Now Public personals go too.

  82. This is the initial release and the following instructions are a copy
  83. of those found in the QUICK START section of WINK.DOC.

  85. - copy all files to your Opus directory
  86. - rename the appropriate EXE version to WINK.EXE
  87. - edit WINK.CFG and follow directions listed there
  88. - add an Opus menu option, for example:
  89.   _OUTSIDE  Normal  "WINK" = DOS c:\opus\wink.exe
  90. - time to rock-n-roll (Rush preferred)

  92. NOTE:  The quick start CFG file requires that PKZIP,
  93.        PKUNZIP, and DSZ be located in your PATH.
