  6. What it is:
  7.  
  8. C-9 Communications provides you with a UseNet account on our computer
  9. system. You can use that account for electronic mail and UseNet Newsgroup
  10. access. Your computer, with appropriate software and our service will
  11. become part of a world-wide network.
  12.  
  13. Your account entitles you to a basic bi-directional modem link. This will
  14. allow electronic mail routing to and from your system.
  15.  
  16. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for all charges incurred under your account. Your
  17. password is the only security mechanism that guards your account from
  18. unauthorized charges and access. Guard it well....
  19.  
  20. We are able to provide fees this low by minimizing administrative costs
  21. and eliminating colletion hassles. All services must be paid for in advance.
  22.  
  23.                       Cancellation & Price Changes
  24.  
  25. You may cancel your services at any time. C-9 Communications reserves
  26. the right to terminate or refuse service to anyone for any reason.
  27.  
  28. From time to time, we will have to adjust the pricing for our services.
  29. Price changes, service discontinuations and similar news will be announced
  30. at least 30 days before going into effect. New services and options may
  31. be put into effect without advance announcement.
  32.  
  33.                         Software and Support
  34.  
  35. You are entirely responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance
  36. and administration of your system. If you require assistance in setting
  37. up your system, we can arrange a separate consulting contract.
  38.  
  39. We will handle routine administrative requests concerning your account within
  40. one working day. The service is provided on a "best effort" basis and we
  41. will not be responsible for damaged or lost information or for damages
  42. due to the system being unavailable.
  43.  
  44.                         Privacy and Security
  45.  
  46. Although we would like to guarantee privacy, we can not. Because of the
  47. way we distribute the "private" mail conference, it is *NOT* private
  48. to other System Operators and any mistakes they might make in distribution.
  49.  
  50. Also be aware that we keep logs of all system activities, including your
  51. mail account, and that these logs will be treated as public information.
  52. We will not disclose the contents of any electronic mail without a court
  53. order.

  56.                        Copyright Infringements
  57.  
  58. Some of the materials available on the networks is copyrighted and, in some
  59. cases, may have been distributed in violation of copyright laws. We cannot
  60. and do not review the information either flowing through or being stored
  61. on our system. You are responsible for determining the legal status of any
  62. intellectual property you either use or duplicate through our system.
  63.  
  64. You agree that you will not violate copyright laws by either transferring
  65. copyrighted works through our system or by storing them on our system, or
  66. by causing them to be transferred or stored, without the permission of
  67. the copyright holder.

  69. We consider the exchange of information about security mechanisms to be
  70. protected speech. However, traffic in access codes, credit card numbers
  71. and similar information is a crime which we take seriously. We expect you
  72. to interact courteously with all other members of the UseNet community, to
  73. respect the rights and privacy of all users and to use your account only
  74. for lawful purposes.

  76.                  Controversial and Explicit Material
  77.  
  78. Because your electronic communications are as private as possible, we
  79. cannot be responsible for their contents. The INTERNET and USENET are
  80. large communities in which censorship is generally regarded as worse
  81. than obscenity. Through our service you will have access to and you will
  82. be exposed to materials that you will find offensive. This will include
  83. sexually explicit text and (encoded) images, racial and other types
  84. of hat-mongering, pro- and anti-religious debate and worse!
  85.  
  86.                     Indemnify and Hold Harmless
  87.  
  88. You are responsible for all actions you take or cause to be taken in
  89. connection with your use of the service. As a condition of the service,
  90. you agree to indemnify and hold harmless C-9 Communications, its officers
  91. and its employees, for any cause of action arising out of your account
  92. with us or use of the service.

  94. Please complete and return your account application form.
  95.
