QWKTXT46 - Public Domain as of December 25, 1993.
Introduction
------------
QWKTXT46 takes a .QWK mail archive downloaded from a BBS & converts the
messages into an ASCII text file. The file containing the messages will
be named MESSAGES.TXT.
Why would anyone want such a program? Well, I wrote it so I could backup
my QWK files into monthly text archives. I also wrote it as a method
of learning about the format of the MESSAGES.DAT and *.NDX files that
various mail doors produce.
How to run QWKTXT46
-------------------
Type the following to convert BBS.QWK to ASCII text:
QWKTXT46 BBS.QWK<enter>
After QWKTXT46 has processed the .QWK file, you will be left with a
file called MESSAGES.TXT. There are no work files to delete anymore.
With this release, QWKTXT46 automatically checks the .QWK file to
determine the archiving method that was used to compress it. It then
calls an appropriate decompression program based upon its findings.
Compression methods and programs supported are as follows:
.ARC format - ARC.EXE [from ARC602 .EXE]
.ARJ format - ARJ.EXE [from ARJ230 .EXE]
.LZH format - LHA.EXE [from LHA213 .EXE]
LHARC.EXE [from LH113C .EXE]
.ZIP format - PKUNZIP.EXE [from PKZ110 .EXE]
UNZIP.EXE [from UNZIP42.ZIP]
.ZOO format - ZOO.EXE [from ZOO210 .EXE]
Note that any trademarks in the above listing are the property of their
owners.
Remember that the unarchiving program(s) must be located somewhere along
the path or QWKTXT46 will die most horribly. (Not really but it still
causes bad karma)
QWKTXT46 is hereby placed into the Public Domain as of December 25, 1992.
You are free to do with it whatever you wish. If you make any speed
improvements, please drop me a line detailing how you did it.
With this PD release of QWKTXT46 comes full Microsoft C 6.00a source.
A request
---------
If you use this program at all I'd appreciate hearing about it. I've
been hearing from a lot of people about it recently. It does my heart
good to know that this simple little program has spread to places I've
never even heard of much less been.
Drop me a postcard, letter or electronic mail at the address(es) below.
