CAM-MAIL INSTALLATION or UPGRADE
IMPORTANT: If you have already registered Cam-Mail, be sure to backup your
CAM-MAIL.KEY (just in case something goes wrong).
MULTI-NODE OPERATION
--------------------
If you're running a multi-node BBS, you should find that everything
was written so you don't have to do anything extra. The door is very
SMART and knows how to handle a multi-node BBS. The only exception is that
you may have to MODIFY the MAIL file in the CAM-MAIL directory if you don't
use BOARD.BAT to load each node.
First, let's make this short and simple. Follow the instructions
explicitly and nothing can go wrong (hopefully):
Installing/Upgrading the Actual Cam-Mail Files
----------------------------------------------
1) UnZip the CAM-M140.ZIP into a TEMPORARY Directory.
2) Type INSTALL.EXE at the DOS prompt.
3) Select either New Install or Upgrade.
4) That's it.
USE THE FOLLOWING INFO IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG
---------------------------------------------------
If something does go wrong, follow the below instructions for manually
installing the TPA and editing the DOORS.LST file:
Installing Cam-Mail via PCBoard
-------------------------------
1) Take ALL nodes down.
2) Go into your PCB directory and run PCBSM.EXE
3) Go into D User Info File Maintenance
4) Go into C Add/Update Third Party Application
5) Enter Name of Third Party Application? CAM-MAIL
(Be sure you enter the name as CAM-MAIL)
6) Version: 1
7) Static Size: 60
8) Dynamic Size: 1
9) KeyWord: MAIL
10) Press PGDN to begin!
11) At this point you can bring up all your nodes if you would like.
12) Go into your PCB directory and run PCBSETUP.EXE
13) Hit the J key to edit your Main Board Conference. Go down and edit your
DOORS.LST (Or it might be called DOORS.DAT) file. Add the
door by the name of: MAIL
Make sure you setup looks something like this:
╔═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
║ Edit DOORS File ║
║ ║
║ USER DOOR ║
║ Filename Password Sec Login SYS SYS Shell Path to DOOR Files ║
║ ══════════ ════════════ ═══ ═════ ════ ════ ═════ ═══════════════════════ ▒
║ 1) MAIL 10 N Y N N C:\CAM-MAIL\ ▒

║ ▒
║ Press F2 to edit the DOOR file ▒
║ ESC=Exit Alt-R=Repeat a Line Alt-I=Insert a Line Alt-D=Delete a Line ║
╚═ 08:23:39 ═══ 10-08-92 ══════ F1 ═ help ════ caps: OFF num: OFF ins: OFF ═╝
Make sure that USERS SYS is set to Yes.
Make sure that SHELL is set to No.
Optional - The "Path to DOOR Files" should be used if you are running a
Multi-Node system. By setting the "Path To DOOR Files" to your Cam-Mail
directory, your MAIL batch file can be accessed by all nodes (Thus eliminating
the need for several MAIL batch files). I highly suggest that you use the
"Path to DOOR Files".
Also, let me make mention that the "Path to DOOR Files" simply means the
path to your BATCH file (Which is called MAIL since we defined our FILENAME
in the DOORS.LST file as MAIL).
During the Installation of the Cam-Mail files, a file called MAIL was
created in your CAM-MAIL directory. Depending how you installed PCBoard, you
might have to change it. This is the actual file that will run the Mail door.
Also, if you did not use the "Path to DOOR Files", then you will need to copy
MAIL (The batch file) into your PCBoard directory and then modify it. Some
type of a TEXT editor will be required to edit MAIL.
One important information is that the FILENAME in the DOORS.LST and the KEY
as defined in the TPA need to be EXACT. So if you run the Mail Door and you
get a message like "Notify Sysop TPA not installed correctly", this means that
your KEY and FILENAME do NOT match.
