  1. Magic Rescue scans a block device for
  2. file types it knows how to recover and
  3. calls an external program to extract
  4. them. It looks at "magic bytes" in file
  5. contents, so it can be used both as an
  6. undelete utility and for recovering a
  7. corrupted drive or partition. It works
  8. on any file system, but on very
  9. fragmented file systems it can only
  10. recover the first chunk of each file.
  11. These chunks are sometimes as big as
  12. 50MB, however.
