  1. This is the National Cooking Echo.  It is a non-region specific
  2. conference dedicated to all persons interested in cooking and/or food
  3. related topics. The National Cooking Echo may not be gated without the
  4. moderator's permission.
  5. 1.  Topics may be broad, but the common theme shall remain cooking. This
  6. may include recipes, appliances, utensils, cook books, food history,
  7. etc. The discussion of the benefits of herbs for medicinal purposes
  8. is off topic, as are the benefits or recipes of any illegal or
  9. controlled substances. Discussion of brewing and distilling alcohol
  10. is not allowed, however, the discussion of which wines to serve with
  11. various dishes is allowed.
  12. 2.  Avoid excessive quoting. Try to quote enough of the message so that
  13. the person you are responding to understands the reply. Change the
  14. subject line when it no longer applies to the message.
  15. 3.  The number of recipes per message must be limited to one, or two
  16. very short recipes.  As a rule of thumb, if two recipes exceed 100
  17. lines in message length, it would be better to post them in two
  18. messages.
  19. 4.  DON'T get personal!  Personal attacks (Flames), and Profanity are
  20. unnecessary and unwelcome in this conference.
  21. 5.  NO religion, theology, doctrine or biblical references are to be
  22. discussed or debated. No political debates will be tolerated. No
  23. racial, ethnic or religious slurs will be tolerated.
  24. 6.  The official language of the echo is English. Please do not post
  25. messages, recipes or anything else in any other language.
  26. 7.  ONLY the Moderators will address off-topic traffic.
  27. 8.  Handles and/or Aliases allowed if they are a normal part of your
  28. BBSing. However, you must post your real first and last name at end
  29. of your message.
  30. 9.  As stated in rule 6, the only language of the echo is English.
  31. However, there are many foreign words which are common in cooking
  32. terminology. For this reason, occasional and limited use of the
  33. extended character set (i.e. high ascii) is allowed in messages and
  34. recipes *only* in appropriate context, e.g. foreign words, degree
  35. symbols and currency signs. High ascii fractions are not allowed
  36. because some BBS software transforms them into whole numbers.
  37. The use of the extended character set (ascii codes 127 and above),
  38. the control characters (ascii codes 31 and below), or ansi escape
  39. code sequences for artistic purposes is *not* allowed in messages or
  40. signature blocks.
  41. 10. The Cooking Echo is a plaintext echo and HTML coded text, other
  42. "rich text" codes and/or inserted pictures are not allowed.
  43. 11. NO advertisements of any kind (including BBS ads) allowed, with the
  44. following exception: ONE advertisement of new cooking related
  45. software is allowed. You may NEVER advertise ANYTHING to sell in the
  46. echo.
  47. 12. Any change in moderators will be done by the current moderators.
  48. 13. The total number of messages per day posted by any single member
  49. should be limited to about 20.
  50. 14. These Guidelines are subject to change at any time. The moderator's
  51. word is the final authority.
  52. UNWRITTEN RULES SECTION:
  53. 1. If you mention a recipe in your message - you MUST post it!  Do not
  54. ask if anyone wants it.  If you like it, someone else will like it
  55. too.
