  5.  1 - This echo is for technical discussions of all shortwave listening
  6.      activities and related information, material, ideas, and assistance.
  7.      Cross-over discussion of other radio monitoring such as VHF/UHF scanner
  8.      radios, digital, and non-entertainment satellite information are also
  9.      welcome.  Non-commercial buy/sell/trade of related hardware is welcome
  10.      including soliciting of equipment wanted. Commercial replies MUST NOT
  11.      be posted in the conference. (Use netmail or email, please!)
  12.      Those with more experience are asked to offer help to those new to
  13.      this topic.  Please, be patient with the newbies! :-)
  14.      Discussion of routine Fidonet info or policies should be discussed
  15.      elsewhere.

  17.      Illegal acts or illegal modifications to radio equipment is off-topic.

  19.      English is the language of this echo.

  21.  2 - Try to get along.  If someone posts something that gives you the urge
  22.      to flame them, walk away from the keyboard until that feeling passes.
  23.      If someone is being a PITA and flaming, let the moderator handle it,
  24.      please!

  26.  3 - Please use your real name when posting here.  If you aren't sure,
  27.      check your birth certificate.

  29.  5 - Avoid creating unneeded traffic.  Here's a list of basic "No-no's":

  31.   No: BBS ads, 'test' messages, "where are you from" chains, multiple
  32.       tearlines, replies to off-topic messages, encrypted messages, PGP
  33.       sigs, multiline sigs or taglines, playing moderator (unless you -are-
  34.       the moderator), additional headers/footers in messages, hi-ASCII ASCII
  35.       "artwork" (we really -don't- care to see it), uuencoded files, or
  36.       huge amounts of over-quoting. <whew!>
  37.  
  38.       If a program (reader, tagline mgr, etc.) is adding a lot of extra
  39.       junk to messages, please don't use it here.  (The moderator will
  40.       decide what's "extra junk", and let you know.)
  41.   
  42.       Again, large/multiline signatures are -greatly- unwelcome, as well
  43.       as listing every email account or FTN-type address you have.
  44.       Leave it out, please.  One -short- line is an "acceptable" signature.

  46.  6 - Please, limit quoting in your replies.  (If you're quoting more than
  47.      a couple lines, you're probably quoting too much.)  Never quote tag/
  48.      tear/origin lines.

  50.  7 - Discussions of computer operating systems (pro OR con) is strongly
  51.      frowned upon.  Don't do it.  Period.
  52.      
  53.  8 - Rules of Common Courtesy apply at -all- times.  If you want to argue
  54.      with, or complain to someone, do it elsewhere.  Play nice!

  56.  9 - No file announcements are allowed, unless done or approved by the
  57.      moderator(s).  You may, however, help others find programs.  When
  58.      doing so, please include filenames, and what (if any) restrictions
  59.      you have on file requests. In the case of files via HTTP or FTP,
  60.      to include the URL (and directory if needed) of the file as well.

  62. 10 - This echo may not be gated (in or out) to any other FTN-style network,
  63.      or the Internet, without without prior permission of the moderator.
  64.      Authorized gates will be published in the ELIST*.* listing for this
  65.      echo.

  67. Changes will be made to this list as needed.  Your input is welcome via
  68. netmail.  (Arguing about moderator decisions/rules is not welcome in the
  69. echo... again, please use netmail.)
