  1. CDRECORD - CD-R/CD-RW/DVD Recording Discussion

  4. 1 - This echo is for general discussion of all types of CDROM recording
  5. (of data, audio or video) technology including CD-R, Re-writable CD-R,
  6. and DVD-R.  Trouble-shooting hardware, software, and any other type
  7. problem/solutions related to CD-R/CD-RW is considered on-topic.
  8. Those with more experience in CDR techniques are asked to offer help to
  9. those new to it.  Please, be patient with the newbies! :-)  Discussion
  10. of routine Fidonet info or policies should be discussed elsewhere.
  11. English is the language of this echo.
  12. 2 - Try to get along.  If someone posts something that gives you the urge
  13. to flame them, walk away from the keyboard until that feeling passes.
  14. If someone is being a PITA and flaming, let the moderator handle it,
  15. please!
  16. 3 - Please use your real name when posting here.  If you aren't sure,
  17. check your birth certificate.
  18. 4 - Avoid creating unneeded traffic.  Here's a list of basic "No-no's":
  19. No: BBS ads, 'test' messages, "where are you from" chains, multiple
  20. tearlines, replies to off-topic messages, encrypted messages, PGP
  21. sigs, multiline sigs or taglines, playing moderator (unless you -are-
  22. the moderator), additional headers/footers in messages, hi-ASCII ASCII
  23. "artwork" (we really -don't- care to see it), uuencoded files, or
  24. huge amounts of over-quoting. <whew!>
  25. If a program (reader, tagline mgr, etc.) is adding a lot of extra
  26. junk to messages, please don't use it here.  (The moderator will
  27. decide what's "extra junk", and let you know.)
  28. Again, large/multiline signatures are -greatly- unwelcome, as well
  29. as listing every email account or FTN-type address you have.
  30. Leave it out, please.  One -short- line is an "acceptable" signature.
  31. 5 - Please, limit quoting in your replies.  (If you're quoting more than
  32. a couple lines, you're probably quoting too much.)  Never quote tag/
  33. tear/origin lines.
  34. 6 - "OS Bashing" is stupid, and not welcome here.  Don't do it.  Period.
  35. This also means, leave your cutesy "OS put-down" tag/origin lines
  36. out of this echo.  (Grow up, ok?)
  37. 7 - Software piracy is illegal, and we all know that.  However this is
  38. not the place to discuss it, pro or con.  If you just can't resist the
  39. urge to, do it elsewhere please.
  40. 8 - Rules of Common Courtesy apply at -all- times.  If you want to argue
  41. with, or complain to someone, do it elsewhere.  Play nice!
  42. 9 - File announcements are allowed by authors of utilities directly
  43. related to the topic of this echo.  You are also encouraged to help
  44. others find programs they may need.  When doing so, please include
  45. filenames, and what restrictions (if any) you have on file requests.
  46. In the case of files via HTTP or FTP, *try* to include the URL (and
  47. directory if needed) of the file as well.
  48. 10 - This echo may not be gated (in or out) to any other FTN-style network,
  49. or the internet, without prior permission of the moderator. Authorized
  50. gates will be published in the ELIST*.* listing for this echo.
  51. Changes will be made to this list as needed.  Your input is welcome via
  52. netmail.  (Arguing about moderator decisions/rules is not welcome in the
  53. echo... again, please use netmail.)
