Catalog and brief explanation of all commands:
Alignment
Lets you change your alignment if you kill a friendly user in offline user
fights. Can only be used once per player character.
Ansi
Toggles on or off the color code sequences for your ansi driver. The color
text changes during prompts and output are directly interpreted by the local
ansi program at your terminal. To use this you must have ANSI.SYS installed.
Appeal
You can get teleported to a place of safety if your character has below normal
fatigue so you don't get killed. Can also be used to teleport out of a room
with no exits.
Attack
Used to kill monsters. Use with the monster name; i.e. Attack Kobold.
Backstab
Used to attack a monster if you are hidden. There are bonus hit points for
backstabbing a monster.
Bank
Allows players to withdraw, deposit, borrow, and transfer gold.
Beat
This attack command uses double damage and return your weapon. Return
damage is increased.
Befuddle
This command allows magic user to confuse monsters. When used the monster
becomes inactive for a few rounds.
Beguile
This is a Lady command. Ladies have a plus to hit on monsters when they use
their own commands.
Bemuse
Lady command. Allows ladies extra hit points to kill monsters.
Bewilder
This Lady command decreases an online player's level or when used to attack a
monster, then the command halfs the monster's hits.
Bewitch
This Lady command hits an online user for their Piety. If used against a
monster, then the monster's level and hit points are decreased.
Bless
Cleric command. Lets a cleric recharge magic items and increase piety of
other online players.
Break
To break open locks. This won't break invisible locks. Used with the parameter
i.e. Break Door.
Bribe
This allows you to offer monsters gold or inventory to exit the room. Used
when there are too many monsters to kill at once. This command can also be
used to trade with other online players.
Brief
This command turns brief mode on and off. Shortens listings when on.
Buy
Used in the weapons shoppe to purchase armor and weapons. Use with the
List command.
Bye
Used to logoff the game.
Cast
Used by magic users to create a spell. There are various forms of casting.
i.e. Cast, or Cast Dragon, or Cast Shield. Then the system asks for the chant.
Catalog
This displays a sorted list of commands stored in the program.
Charge
Used to attack a monster with added plus. Also gives the monster added hits
when fighting back.
Charm
This Lady command attacks the monster. Sometimes Bemuse, Beguile, or Charm
can kill a monster instantly. Sometimes there is no effect.
Chat
Pages the system operator for talking.
Circle
Confuses the monster if successful.
Climb
Used as another word for Up.
Clock
Displays current time on and date.
Close
Closes a door. use with the door name, i.e. Close Door.
Commands
Displays this file.
Counter
Used to attack a monster with different hit points.
Curse
Cleric command. Lets a cleric damage a magic item or reduce piety points
of other online players.
Date
Displays time on and date.
Dismount
For exiting a vehicle or horse.
Dodge
This attack command is a passive maneuver. The multiplier is double and
return damage is reduced. This command returns your shield.
Down
This moves your player in the down direction if there is one in the room.
Draw
Another word for Hold. Allows your player to use swords and weapons. Must be
used with the weapon name, i.e. Draw Sword.
Drink
This command allows you to drink from a potion or bottle. The potion must
have charges of some liquid. i.e. Drink Vial.
Drive
This lets your character move to other rooms while in a vehicle. Use with the
room direction, i.e. Drive North.
Drop
Takes some inventory and puts into the room. If you had some armor, you could
drop the armor into the current room, i.e. Drop Armor.
East
Takes your player in the eastern direction if the room has an east direction.
Eat
Lets your player consume an edible object.
Echo
Toggles off modem input echoing for half duplex machines.
End
Stops the game and returns to bbs.
Enter
Allows your player to go into doors and enter other portals. The room must
have some door displayed. You must have the portal's name, i.e. Enter Door.
Examine
Gives you extended information on some item in the room, or in your inventory.
List the item name to examine, i.e. Examine Scroll.
Exit
Makes your player leave a vehicle or use the Out direction in a room.
Experience
Displays your character experience and gold hoard amount.
Feint
This attacks the monster for less hit point return.
Fire
This command discharges a device loaded with ammunition. The device, for
example A Shotgun, must be loaded with ammunition first. Used with the
device name, and target, i.e. Fire Shotgun at Bandit.
Fix
Lets you repair weapons or armor of plus 10 or less.
Fly
Used to move a vehicle. i.e. Fly North. Only if you have entered the vehicle.
Fuel
This allows a player to fuel all the charges from the fuel to the item
to be used in a unlit room with the light command.
Get
Used to take items from the room. Use Look to locate and list the contents of
a room, then Get the item, i.e. Get Sword.
Go
Use to enter a portal or door. Use with the door name, i.e. Go into Door.
Guard
Monster attack command for reduced hit point return.
Health
Displays a short form of the Information command. Includes listing of
vital statistics and experience points.
Help
Displays help files for commands. Type Help for brief information and how to
use help. Otherwise enter the command for help on, i.e. Help Look.
Hide
This lets you hide your character. Monsters don't attack hidden players.
Hint
Displays the current HINT.DOC file.
Hit
Attacks a monster. Basic form similar to Attack, Strike.
Hold
Allows you to use a weapon. Use the name of the weapon, i.e. Hold Shortsword.
Identify
Displays extended information on an item in the room, on your inventoy, or of
monsters.
Information
Displays the total information about your player's character.
Inventory
Displays your player's list of inventory, weight, and experience.
Kill
Basic form of attacking a monster. Once you select a monster to attack with
the name, i.e. Kill StoneGiant, then the kill command can be abbreviated to
attack the monster without the name, i.e. Kill.
Launch
Used to discharge the ammunition of a catapult or similar object in a certain
direction. Example: Launch Catapule North. The ammunition breaks down locks.
Learn
This command allows you to enter chants you have memorized so you can just
enter the spell name after the Chant? prompt.
Leave
Lets you exit the Out direction or exit a vehicle.
Light
This lets the player light an item such as a lantern for illuminating
unlit rooms.
Linefeeds
Toggles linefeed echoing for half duplex machines.
Linelength
Changes length of display line.
List
For the weapons shoppe this lists the items for sale.
Load
Charges shotguns and devices with ammunition. Example: Load Shotgun. You must
have the correct ammunition in your inventory, i.e. A Shotgun Shell.
Lock
This lets you lock a door or portal. Use the door name, i.e. Lock Gate.
Login
Allows the player to use another character.
Look
Displays the room with no parameters, i.e. Look, or displays information
the same as Examine with the itemname, i.e. Look at Shield.
Lunge
This attack command is a passive maneuver. The multiplier is double and
returned damage is reduced. Your shield will be returned to use this command.
Mail
This command lets the players enter and read mail. There are also mail
editing options for the DM. Players can also lock or unlock their mailboxes.
Mount
Lets your character enter a vehicle, example: Mount Horse.
Move
Used to move catapults and other launchable devices to another room. Example:
Move Catapult South.
North
Moves your player to the north.
Northeast
Moves to the NorthEast.
Northwest
Moves to the NorthWest.
Offer
The same as Bribe. Lets you offer gold or objects to a monster to leave.
Open
This command opens a door or a portal so you can enter. Example: Open Door.
Out
This brings your character to the Out direction in a room.
Pagelength
Changes the page length for more prompting and displays.
Panic
Used to escape during monster attacks if you are low in fatigue or are about
to die. Then your player drops the shield and weapon being held and runs to
another room direction for safety.
Parley
Used to talk to monsters. Example: Parley Troglydite.
Parry
Attacks a monster for different hit point return.
Password
This lets you change your character's password.
Pawn
Lets the player sells items of inventory.
Picklock
Used by thieves to unlock doors requiring keys. Use with the door name,
i.e. Picklock Grate.
Psionic
This command lets your player attack or defend with psionics. Command used in
the form: Psionic Attack, or Psionic Defense.
Pummel
This command attacks monsters for extra hits.
Punch
This attack command uses double damage and returns your weapon. Return
damage is increased.
Put
Same as Drop. Removes an item of inventory and drops it onto the ground.
Quit
Ends the game.
Read
Similar to examine or look. Used with an item name, displays information on
the object in user's inventory or from the ground.
Recharge
Offers the Alchemist in the Mages Guild to repair an empty magic item.
Relogin
Enters the system to use another character name.
Repair
Offers the Blacksmith in the Smithy to repair a broken weapon or shield.
Reroll
Allows a player to change his statistics once per user.
Resist
Attack form of defense against monsters for reduced hit points back.
Return
Makes your player put a sword or weapon being held to inventory. Used to
return for casting. Example: Return Dagger.
Ride
Moves the vehicle to a room direction, i.e. Ride East.
Run
When your fatugue is to low for survival then the run command will cause
your player to run to a nearby room. Your shield and weapon is left behind.
Save
Equivalent to store, writes the user statistics to disk.
Search
Displays hidden objects in a room. Also allows you to search receptacles, for
example: Search Chest.
Sell
Offers an item for sale to the broker in the Pawn Shoppe.
Shield
Used to reduce hit points attack by a monster.
Smash
Used to break open a lock. i.e. Smash Door.
Sort
Turns inventory sorting on or off. Then the player's inventory is sorted by
the maximum charges remaining in the item.
South
Moves your player to the southern direction in a room.
Southeast
Moves your player southeast.
Southwest
Moves your player southwest.
Status
Displays toggle preferences.
Steal
Lets you steal an item from another online player's inventory.
Stop
Same as Bye, logs the user off the program, returns to the bbs.
Store
Stores your character to disk.
Strike
Same as Attack, Kill, and Hit. Basic form for attacking a monster.
Suicide
Deletes your character from the game and ends the game. Use only if you do
not want to use your player anymore.
Swim
Used to move a vehicle. i.e. Swim East. Only if you have entered the vehicle.
Take
Lets you pick up an item in the room. Example: Take Club.
Talk
Allows you to talk to a monster. Example: Talk to Beggar. Most monsters
will not respond.
Throw
Lets a Thief throw a weapon at a monster or online player. The Thief must
be holding the weapon. Example: Throw dagger at Zombie.
Thrust
This uses maximum damage on a monster, and returns more hits by the monster.
i.e. Thrust Demon.
Time
Displays date, time, timeon and timeleft.
Top
Sorts the users and displays the top ten scoring players. Also creates a
ranking file for BBS doors.
Train
Lets you increase your player's statistics for the next level. You must
reduce your experience to zero by killing monsters before you can train.
Sometimes the system will auto-train, or sometimes you must find the
training area.
Turn
This allows Clerics to damn undead monsters like zombies. Then the monster
is decreased by a level.
Unlock
This lets you unlock a door. Example: Unlock the Grate.
Up
Moves your player to the Up direction if displayed in a room.
Use
Lets you cast with a magic item. For example: Use Scroll, or Use Wand Bat.
Users
Displays a list of all users in the system. Users who lock their mailbox in
mail are not displayed.
Wear
Makes your player put on armor. Example: Wear Armor.
West
Moves your player west.
Wield
Makes your player hold a shield or weapon.
Wordwrap
Toggle word wrap.
