It does it consistantly, every day. Fortunately, I check each morning
for messages which have not been exported "Read", and move those with
the PCB MOVE command to the end of the base so they get hit next time
around.

I am looking for a utility that will compare an old USENET active list to a new
active list, and output a list of new/removed newsgroups. If you don't know
what I am talking about here's an example active list:

I think this question was asked a while back, but I don't recall
seeing a reply...
When a listserver sends out mail to names on it's list (not
necessarility the PCBUUCP listserver), does it send individual
messages to everyone on the list, or does it send one message to each
site, with the same message then being processed for each user at
each site...??? In otherwords, will my UUCP feed only be sending me
a SINGLE message, then PCBUUCP will copy it to each name in the
message...???
The reason I am interested is that if the only drawback to letting
individual users request mailing list is disk space, and NOT connect
time to my UUCP feed, then it might be easier to NOT use the PCBUUCP
facility for putting incoming mailing lists into their own respective
public conferences.
Right now I have about 5 or 6 lists coming into 5 or 6 conferences,
and each one is really only being accessed by one person..., so it
seems like a bit of a bother to do it this way, rather than just
letting folks subscribe in the "normal" way. Disk storage is
cheap..., connect time is NOT.
Comments...???

Someone else may well point toward an existing utility. If not, look at
combining grep, sort and diff programs in a batch file to achieve the
result. It should take from 15 minutes to an evening, depending on your

I've recently changed my e-mail address from:
stargate.actrix.gen.nz
to
stargate.gen.nz
The problem is, when mail comes in for the old address (i.e from people
who don't know about the new one yet), PCBUUCP sends it right back out
again and will tell them its an invalid address or something like that.
Is there any way with the current version of PCBUUCP (1.1f) to tell it
to redirect any mail from stargate.actrix.gen.nz to stargate.gen.nz to
allow it to still be imported OR have an "AKA" domain that meants I can
have 2 e-mail addresses set up in PCBUUCP to allow mail to be imported
for both addresses.
Roy, in response to your message I read on your BBS.
I set up an entry of stargate.actrix.gen.nz in the "Don't Route" Field.
BUT, when mail came in for that address, it simply repackaged it and
send it out again on the next mail run. A further mail run later, it
came back in and got repackaged and sent back out again ... and so on.
It is not importing this mail into my system.
When PCB-UUCP processes an e-mail message addressed to
firstname.lastname@stargate.actrix.gen.nz, it routes it to ACTRIX (my
host) even though I've got the stargate.actrix.gen.nz address in the
Don't Route Field. Is this how I'm supposed to do it?
If I use the ROUTING file, it will still try and repack it and send it
out to my other name. I'd much like it to just import the messages
anyway without having to send the mail around a few continents first
:-)... is there ANY way around this?
Cheers

I have set all of my UUCP news conferences for a destination of netsys,

He received back 3 messages each one containing a portion of the file that was
supposed to be mail back to him. What he received was a file attachment of 27k
to the first message and no attachements to second or third messages. The file
that was attached was processed by PCBUUCP and should have been roughly around
100K when all put together.
Waht I think happened is that the file was named the same in all three messages
and PCBUUCP just kept replacing the file with the "latest one". This does
happen in the case with the alt.binaries group and having them converted to
files.
I would like to suggest that PCBUUCP should check to see if the file does exist
and if so change the name of the new incoming file in some shape or fashion so
that the previously received file with the same name will remain intact.
Take it easy...Jeff

RATIONALE

These groups are the moving of the alt newsgroups alt.bbs.first-class,
alt.bbs.pcboard, alt.bbs.pcbuucp, and alt.bbs.uupcb into new
newsgroups comp.bbs.firstclass and comp.bbs.pcboard.
The proponent (Greg Berigan) has been informed that the hyphen is
erroneous, as there is no space in "FirstClass", and that it would
also prevent many mail->news gateways from posting to the group.

How do you set up the UUCP accounts on a UNIX machine (like one that has
TCPIP and will let me call in and do a UUCP transfer with UUCICO.EXE)

Cheers

Okay...here's some further info re: the Qmail door not finding the email
message. Since you worked with Sparky on the 1stReader/PCBUUCP
interface, you might want to let him know about this one:
Qmail did not find the message. Rosemail did. A 'Q S' command in
PCBoard 15 produced this:
Scanning InternetMail (14) Conference
Msg# Ref# To From Subject
+2621 IAN EVANS Wot's the poop
+2622 2618 KLOVATT@KLNET.L SYSOP Re: becker and ionews
As you can see, the FROM in message 2621 is blank.
However, an 'r a s' command produces this:
Date: 12-08-93 (19:50) Number: 2621 of 2626 (Refer# NONE)

Anyway, I don't know if this helps any, but the message was sent to me
by a user of a First Class BBS using their PostalUnion gateway.
Any thoughts?

Roy,

FTP plains.nodak.edu UUENCODE
USER anonymous robert.schultz@execnet.com

BINARY
GET oct93.zip
