  13. This second beta release of SinMail v1.0 includes the additions promised in
  14. the interim between the previous beta version and this release.  These
  15. features include:
  16.  
  17.   o Local net posts now show up locally.
  18.  
  19.   o User plan files / finger service has changed its method a little bit,
  20.     and full documentation is included, as well as the necessary source code
  21.     modifications.  SinMail allows your users to maintain their own plan files
  22.     which users on the Internet can access through our unique finger method.
  23.  
  24.   o Name resolution now has three separate options:
  25.       1. Explicit resolution
  26.       2. Username-based resolution
  27.       3. Accessed resolution
  28.  
  29.     All methods allow aliasing.  Username-based and Accessed resolution
  30.     methods use WWIV data files to resolve the user names, allowing a much
  31.     simpler method of giving users their own internet accounts.  Accessed
  32.     resolution allows restricting access to users with the given ARs.

  35. The commercial version of SinMail v1.0 Beta 2 is available and allows full
  36. operation with configurable RESOLVE and NEWSRC files.  Sysops will be given
  37. access to download SinMail v1.0B2 from The Ethereal Plane (609)435-5991, HQ
  38. of Singe, and will receive the release of SinMail v1.0 on disk in the mail
  39. upon its release.

  43. It was not expected that SinMail would be released in Beta (incomplete) form,
  44. but due to high demand, it was felt that an early pre-release would be the
  45. best way to finally allow interested SysOps to connect their WWIV systems to
  46. the Internet.  Next project: WWIV/Telnet Package.  The goal is to fully
  47. integrate WWIV with the Internet -- at long last!
