  3. The archive should contain the following:
  4.      NETEDIT.EXE      - Generic Network Editor (8086/8088 instructions only)
  5.      NETEDIT.287      - Special Compilation for 80286/80287+ setups.
  6.                         [Co-processor, floating-point unit, or emulator required]
  7.      NETEDIT.DOC      - The documentation (revised)
  8.      NETEDIT.MSG      - The help file (put into G-files Directory)
  9.      XINSTALL.COM     - Installation/Registration Utility
  10.      READ.ME          - This file!
  11. The archive may also contain the following:
  12.      NETLIMIT.COM     - A program to limit network posts to "leech nodes."
  13.      NETPURGE.EXE     - A program to process undeliverable network packets.
  14.      NETPURGE.DOC     - Documentation for NETPURGE.EXE.

  16. Installation:
  17.      Place NETEDIT.EXE or NETEDIT.287 anywhere in your DOS path.  Place the
  18. NETEDIT.MSG in your BBS G-files directory.  Then run the XINSTALL.COM
  19. program.  Hint:  To preserve your registration information from the prior
  20. installation, rename the old Netedit program file to something other than
  21. NETEDIT.EXE, and specify the old program name as a parameter to the XINSTALL
  22. program.  For example:

  24.      RENAME NETEDIT.EXE NETEDIT.OLD
  25.      LHARC E NETEDIT
  26.      XINSTALL NETEDIT.OLD
  27.      DEL NETEDIT.OLD
  28.  
  29. will replace the old version with the new version with all the registration
  30. information in place.  Otherwise, for the registered version of NETEDIT,
  31. the program will not permit sysop mode for the registration information
  32. that it requires would have been lost.  Also note, to install the .287 version,
  33. one will have to rename it to NETEDIT.EXE.
  34.  
  35. Modifications/improvements:
  36.      Mainly internal optimizations and corrections.  Altered registration
  37. record format.  Added "extended regions" support.  Added additional command
  38. line parameter "-F<filename>" for redirection of WWIV's "CHAIN.TXT" file.
  39. The documentation files have NOT been revised and still reflect version 1.52.

  41. Version 1.53 [--/--/--]:
  42.      There was no version 1.53 released to the public.
  43.  
  44. Version 1.52 [06/04/95]:
  45.      Mainly internal optimizations and corrections.  Added an ISDN modifier
  46. for the bbs lists and the "force area code" modifier for callout files as
  47. added by WWIV 4.24, released on 06/03/95.
  48.  
  49.      Versions prior to and including version 1.53 should not be used.
  50.  
  51. A contribution of $10.00 for (registration of) this software would be
  52. appreciated(*).  The author knows who you are and may send "The Snark" after
  53. you if you do not register this program!  (Did you read this file?)  The
  54. address for the registration fee may be found in the regular Network Editor
  55. documentation (in other words, read it too!).
