SBM.DOC - Documentation for SysOp Bulletin-Maker
version 1.0
by Conor Prischmann
aka
Xavier Vegas
for
ROOK Software
(C) Copyright 1990
Release Date: August 24, 1990
Short Description: ROOK Software's Sysop Bulletin-Maker
(SBM) is a chain program (i.e. door, onliner, etc.),
designed for use with WWIV BBSs.
Software: This software is NOT public domain. You can test
it out for a while, and if you decide to keep it on your
BBS, I'd really appreciate a donation. Any people donating
$5.00 or more (US currency made out as a check to "Conor
Prischmann"), will be considered "registered users". Any
people donating $7.50 or more will receive the Turbo Pascal
(version 5 compatible) source code (on a floppy disk) so
that they can see how it works and modify it for their
personal needs.
Restrictions: You may copy this software without any
charge, but only on the following conditions: that all the
files are included on disk or in an archived file, and in an
unaltered state; that no charge is made for the software
itself, only for the media on which it was placed, a fee
which cannot exceed five dollars; and that it not be placed
on CompuServe. Thank you for following these guidelines.
Disclaimer: I make no guarantees about this software,
neither expressed nor implied. Use this software at your
own risk. I hearby relinquish all liablity. Anything that
happens to your computer, disk drives, monitor, software,
etc. is not my problem: it is yours and yours alone.
Description: This is a chain program for WWIV BBSs. It is
almost totally useless when it's not running on a WWIV BBS,
unless there is some way to interface it to other BBS
systems that I don't know about. SBM will allow you, the
SysOp, to enter in bulletins, and force your users to read
those bulletins up to their last calls. The options are
self-explanatory, so I won't bore you with an overview of
all of them. To install SBM, simply follow the instructions
in INSTALL.TXT.
Running the program: After you have installed the program
as described in INSTALL.TXT, you can run it. When you first
run the program, it will create the necessary data files,
and a dummy entry, which you can delete later if you want.
These data files will then be updated as you write and
delete bulletins. The maximum number of bulletins is 25,
and SBM will automatically delete the oldest one for you,
when you add a bulletin after you have reached the limit.
