────────────────────────────────── UTILITY ───────────────────────────────────
The Utility program allows the sysop to better control the EAW2 game.
Option 1.
This allows the sysop to change the name and hence the player of a selected
country. Select country by typing in numbers 1 to 6. Then type in the
name just as your BBS produces it for EAW2. Usually it will join first and
last name with a space between.
Option 2.
This lists all BBS's that have unique numbers that BBS to BBS play can be
used. Also, any offline players are on the list.
Note - we say BBS to BBS not BBS vs BBS because some players on another BBS
may be your ally while a player on the same bbs would be an enemy. To the
players this is largely invisible except for the From notice and the delay
in mail.
Option 3.
This lists the Inbound and Outbound control record for the selected game.
Each game must have its own Control Record.
Option 4.
This is the entry form to enter the BBS number and other information for
any BBS that can have B2B play. Sysops should decide the numbering system
for their BBS group.
The number 0 is a default number and no BBS should have this number if you
want to have BBS to BBS play.
Offline players name must also be added using this option. There name must
match their bbs logon and their registration key (if any).
Note- One way for the sysop to organize the numbers here is to have bbses
use numbers 1-100 and players use numbers 101-1000. (The bbs number is
used to make unique file names.)
Option 5.
This is the update form to change the BBS number and other information for
any BBS that can have BBS to BBS play.
Option 6.
This allows the sysop to change the Inbound and Outbound control record.
To facilite B2B play your BBS must have a unique number on the net. This
number may not be used by any other BBS among all the BBS's that connect to
yours or any BBS that your BBS net connects to.
Interface Control is the actual BBS nos. where game information is sent of
received from.
The BBS IS number of the Host bbs and the game number there must be entered
to provide this information to the BBS file extraction program.
Input the path information where the inbound files are to be found.
Input the path information where the outbound files are to be put.
Option 7.
This allows the sysop to rebuild the Index files of certain key records.
Option 8.
Fix data base. If Option 7 fails to work use this option. This copies
the army, navy and leader data bases to temporary files. Erases the old
files and rebuilds and indexes the files.
Option 9.
You must tell the game what amoung the listed BBS's is your BBS number.
If your BBS is the HOST BBS for this game then no strategic information
from remote sites will overlay the information on your system.
If your BBS is a satellite BBS for this game then your Move information
will be exported and new information will overlay old information after
each game turn.
Option A. Archive/Erase Battles
The Battle Data base can grow quite large after many games. Completed
games should be archived. All battles except those of the last 5 turns
are marked for overwrite. This does not make the file any smaller, but
new records added to the data base will be placed where these records
used to be so the file will not grow for awhile.
Note - ESCape Key exits input option.
