CYBER-List Door
Copyright (C) 1994 Douglas Baxter
Description :
Cyber-List Door is a lightning fast BBS list utility with easy to
understand command options. With this program you can search,
view, or add BBS numbers to a ASCII text file. New lists may be
downloaded from SOLITUDE BBS as they become available (See LISTS section).
Features :
- ANSI displays.
- Hot key operation.
- View, Add, and Search options.
- Fast.
- Support for all popular drop files.
- No FOSSIL required. Will work with or without.
License :
CYBER-List Door is distributed using the SHAREWARE concept. You're granted
30 days to evaluate this product. The terms of this license allow FREE
distribution of the entire CDOORxx.ZIP ( xx = Version #.# ) archive to
other systems and individuals. The license does not grant any changes,
deletions, or additions to the original six (6) distribution files aside
from simple BBS ads, etc, etc.
If at the end of 30 days you have NOT registered your copy you are
required to cease using it. Under no circumstance will the transfer
of registration numbers be tolerated.
See REGISTER.TXT for information on registering your copy!
Files Listing :
The original six (6) files included in this archive are :
CDOOR.EXE - Main executable.
CDOOR.DOC - This manual.
BBS.TXT - National BBS listing.
REGISTER.TXT - Text file on the registration procedure.
FILE_ID.DIZ - File description text.
FREQ.TXT - File requests available thru Solitude BBS.
If any of these files are missing then your copy has been tampered with!
It is suggested that your call SOLITUDE BBS (803-246-3824) for a
current and authentic copy.
UnRegistered Version :
The unregistered version of CYBER-List Door does not contain any crippled
features. It does display a message in various parts of the
program ( CDOOR.EXE ). To encourage users to register a delay is
placed at the beginning and the end of program operation. Purchasing
a copy will disable this delay.
The BBS.TXT file is only 1/4 of the actual size of the registered
version. A utility is used that randomly draws only a quarter of
the numbers from the validated list contained on SOLITUDE BBS.
Purchasing this software will grant you access to the monthly
updates of this list in it's entirety.
Disclaimer :
CYBER-List Door has been extensively tested. The program (CDOOR.EXE)
has been run under Windows 3.1, OS2, and DesqView. Reasonable
action has been taken prior to its release to determine its stability
in operation. This is NOT, however, considered grounds for consent of
a warranty or any guarantee against faults that its use may cause to
other systems. The author cannot be held accountable for damages to
Hardware or Software. Execution of the CDOOR.EXE file is considered
acknowledgment of the License and Disclaimer written herein.
Since distribution of this archive can continue after the BBS.TXT file
has become out-dated it is suggested that you call all numbers by voice
the first time to ensure that the BBS is still in operation.
Installation :
To ensure proper installation and first-time operation please follow the
steps and pay close attention to any NOTES. If you are upgrading from a
older release of CYBER-List Door simply copy the new CDOOR.EXE over
the old.
Step #1
Create a directory for the programs to reside in and copy all the files
to this new directory.
Step #2
Create a batch file to call CDOOR. CDOOR handles all the major drop
files, but you'll need to copy them to the CDOOR directory for it to
read them.
Step #3
Call your BBS and make sure everything is working to your satisfaction.
You're done. Give Solitude a call and make a suggestion.
Trouble :
This section contains a brief FAQ on problems that might be experienced
and their solutions. There isn't a lot that can go wrong...
Q - There is a delay between the time I execute the program and the
time I see a display... Is something wrong?
A - No. Cyber-List Door is reading the file to determine the # of pages
it must use. Unless this delay is over 15 seconds long there is
no problem.
Q - I added my registration code and the program doesn't validate!
A - Pay close attention to your code and remember that CASE is important
in your name.
Q - My entries into the BBS.TXT file are not showing up.
A - If you have used a text editor to alter the BBS.TXT file make sure
that the editor isn't appending a ^Z to the end of the list.
Technical Support :
SOLITUDE BBS will offer FREE technical support regarding this program for
all registered and unregistered versions. You must call the BBS directly
(803-246-3824). If you have registered CDOOR use the account information
enclosed with your reg number to login.
Lists :
Current BBS lists will be created monthly. These BBS.TXT files will
be available to registered users only. The format for the filename is
CBBSmmyy.ZIP ( Where mm = month and yy = year ).
Changes :
Cyber-List Door wouldn't be a good product if users didn't call SOLITUDE
& make changes to the list. A BBS can be added to the list by calling
803-246-3824 and using the 'BBS' command from the main menu. To take
a BBS off the list leave a message to the SysOp.
Modifications Since Version 1.0

11/03/94 - v1.1 : Duplicate checking during BBS entry phase.

11/14/94 - v1.2 : Fixed bug in registration routine. Door refused
