WHAT'S NEW?
===========
7/18/94
-------
Fixed a few problems with setting up cd-roms using CDCHANGE and
XDISC programs, as well as directory names used for drive paths
when using a LAN.
7/1/94
------
This version must be used with Rombrain dated on or after 7/1/94.
Use the CONVERT.EXE that comes with ROMBRAIN.ZIP to convert your
filebases to the new RBF format.
* Do not use BRAINEX.DAT dated before 7/1/94 with this program.
* Do not use BRAINEX PROGRAMS dated before 7/1/94 with this program.
* Read the README! for first time installation!
2/6/94
------
Extra spaces were being added to the end of entries in the BRAINEX.INI
file. - fixed
12/14/93
--------
Brainset now reads CD-ROMS that have "." or ".." as the first directory
entry on the root drive of the cd-rom disk. These directory entries will
be ignored when Brainset creates CD-ROM identifier lines in the BRAINEX.INI
file.
12/04/93
--------
CD-ROM label information added to cdrom identifier line in BRAINEX.INI
11/28/93
--------
Brainset now creates a new type of cdrom indentifier for Rombrain v.3.
This replaces the volume= line in the BRAINEX.INI file. See ROMBRAIN's
WHATS.NEW file.
* WARNING! If you use a version of BRAINSET dated before 11/28/93 with
Rombrain version 3, you will lose your new cdrom indentifier information.
11/04/93
--------
Mouse was not selecting NEXT PAGE on door setup screen - fixed.
10/19/93
--------
Added an explanation for BBS types when using node setup.
Notice: Use GAP BBS type only if you run GAP BBS.
If your BBS type is not shown, and you use DOOR.SYS, please select GEN.
10/15/93
--------
Certain programs may use "effects" in the pause or input prompts,
such as spinning characters or animation. You can disable this
by adding FX=OFF to the command line.
Example:
ROMBRAIN NODE=1 FX=OFF
10/11/93
--------
Brainset now let's you configure fossil ports 1-16. This is useful
if you run the DIGIFOSSIL driver with DigiBoard IM. If you enable
the fossil for a node, Brainset will ignore base and IRQ settings,
as they are unused when a fossil is active.
** You will need to use Brainex Doors dated 10/11/93 or later! **
9/13/93
-------
You can now configure each node's CTS/RTS hardware flow control
and FOSSIL option. If you do not reconfigure, your previous settings
will remain in effect. Locked ports ENABLE flow control unless set
otherwise. The next time you save settings using BRAINSET, you'll notice
the new lines in the BRAINEX.INI file with these additions.
If you use a 9600 baud or higher modem, you should lock the comport on
your BBS. Brainex doors should also use a LOCKED setting and CTS/RTS set
to ON. Failure to use CTS/RTS flow control and locked ports can cause
callers to see partial screens or garbage in the form of ANSI control
codes.
8/24/93
-------
Fixed a bug in the installer, caused the hard drive to get stuck!
8/20/93
-------
Support for RIP graphics for doors dated after 8/10/93.
An additonal option in BRAINSET.EXE will toggle the auto
RIP or ANSI mode detect function of Brainex doors. For GAP BBS,
you would set this to OFF, as GAP can detect RIP, and write
RIP to DOOR.SYS on the line that shows the graphics/color mode.
If your BBS does not support RIP, set this option to ON, and your
callers can use RIP graphics with Brainex doors!
Brainset will adds a new setup line in your BRAINEX.INi file
after the sysop name line:
detect rip/ansi=
If your BRAINEX.INI file does not have this libne, run Brainset again
to create it.
7/26/93
-------
BRAINSET now supports up to 99 CD-ROMS (was 50) in the setup area.
7/19/93
-------
Brainex Doors now use the DSZ portx command by default.
Please replace your file transfer BAT files:
EXTS1.BAT
EXTSF.BAT
EXTSG.BAT
EXTSH.BAT
EXTSX.BAT
EXTSY.BAT
EXTSZ.BAT
Non-standard comports, IRQ, and base addresses are now fully
supported internally, no special batch files are required.
See specific batch files for new parameters.
You should also update the programs that use the above batch files:
ROMBRAIN.EXE
REQUEST.EXE
SBRAIN.EXE (Shop Master)
MANUAL.EXE
READER.EXE
4/8/93
------
Support for TriBBS for doors updated on or after this date.
3/17/93
-------
Support for GENESIS BBS, and CALLINFO.BBS data file for doors
updated on or after this date.
1/27/93
-------
BRAINSET now allows you to use IRQ 1-15. Just toggle the IRQ value
in the BBS Setup section by using the spacebar.
Brainex doors created after this date can use a FOSSIL driver.
To use the fossil option add the command FOSSIL to the command line
of the door.
Example: ROMBRAIN FOSSIL
You can tell if the fossil is in use by looking at the status box.
You will see FPORT instead of PORT to indicate that the fossil port is
in use.
