  18.   Configure Your BBS Node Settings
  19.   --------------------------------
  20.   Total Nodes:
  21.   Enter the total number of nodes for BBS. Single node 
  22.   systems enter 1. You can use PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys
  23.   to view settings for other nodes.
  24.  
  25.   System Serial Number: 
  26.   Enter your Brainex Door Manager Registration number. Brainex doors
  27.   will work in DEMO mode if you have not registered the door manager.
  28.  
  29.   BBS Name:
  30.   Enter the name of your BBS as you would like it to appear to callers.
  31.   Upper/Lower case sensitive.
  32.  
  33.   BBS Type:
  34.   Use the spacebar or mouse buttons to toggle supported BBS types.
  35.   Notice: Use GAP BBS type only if you run GAP BBS. 
  36.   If your BBS is not listed, but uses DOOR.SYS as its door data file,
  37.   select GENERIC.

  39.   Sysop:
  40.   Enter the sysop's name.
  41.  
  42.   BBS Version:
  43.   Enter the version number of your BBS.
  44.  
  45.   Data File:
  46.   Enter the name of your BBS door data file if different from the one
  47.   automatically selected.

  49.   Path to Data:
  50.   The is the complete DRIVE\DIRECTORY\FILENAME for the door data file
  51.   for the node listed.

  53.   Comport:
  54.   Toggle the comport for this node using mouse buttons or spacebar.
  55.   Comports 1-4 and FOSSIL ports 1-16 are supported.

  57.   Baud:
  58.   Toggle the baud rate for this node using mouse buttons or spacebar.
  59.   If you do not use a locked com port, select AUTO. Normally you would
  60.   set this to match your BBS's comport baud rate.
  61.  
  62.   Locked Port:
  63.   Toggle the locked or unlocked baud for this node using mouse buttons or 
  64.   spacebar. If you selected AUTO baud, then this setting should be NO LOCK.
  65.   If you use a high speed modem (9600 baud and above) you should set this
  66.   to LOCKED and you should also be sure your BBS is using a locked comport.
  67.   
  68.   Base Address: (NOT USED when FOSSIL is ON.)
  69.   If you wish to use a non-standard com port, type the com port base 
  70.   address for this node.

  72.   IRQ: (NOT USED when FOSSIL is ON.)
  73.   Toggle the IRQ for this node using mouse buttons or spacebar.

  75.   RIP/ANSI detect:
  76.   Set to YES and Brainex doors will automatically detect if the caller
  77.   is using ANSI or RIP graphics. If you use GAP BBS, set to NO. GAP
  78.   will detect RIP, and put a flag in the DOOR.SYS file. This let's
  79.   Brainex Doors know the caller is using RIP, and will save time when 
  80.   a door runs.
  81.  
  82.   FOSSIL
  83.   If this node uses a FOSSIL driver set this to YES. Brainex Doors DO NOT
  84.   require the use of a FOSSIL. FOSSIL drivers are used by some BBSes
  85.   that run with a DIGIBOARD or other non-standard comport device.

  87.   CTS/RTS
  88.   If you use a LOCKED comport setting, this should be set to YES.
  89.   CTS/RTS hardware flow control will prevent the remote modem's buffer
  90.   from overflowing, causing the caller to see garbage or partial screens.

  92.   Node Number:
  93.   Use spacebar or mouse buttons to toggle the node number. You may then 
  94.   view or edit the information for the node.

  99.   Install or Modify a Brainex Door
  100.   --------------------------------
  101.   Use the arrow keys or mouse to the desired door. Hit enter, then 
  102.   answer the setup questions for the door.  Move to the DONE box when
  103.   you are finished.

  106.   Add or Edit External File Transfer Protocols
  107.   --------------------------------------------
  108.   Certain Brainex doors require the program DSZ.EXE, DSZ.COM, GSZ.EXE,
  109.   HSLINK.EXE, or other external file transfer programs. Enter the
  110.   DRIVE\DIRECTORY where the batch files for your external file
  111.   transfer program are located. Usually this is your BRAINEX default
  112.   directory.  Enter a letter for each protocol. This letter will
  113.   be part of the options menu shown to the callers. Enter the protocol
  114.   name, and the batch file name.  When finished, move to the DONE box,
  115.   then hit enter. Usually, you do not need to change these settings.

  118.   Add or Edit CDROM information
  119.   -----------------------------
  120.   For use with ROMBRAIN and REQUEST programs.
  121.   
  122.   If you want to use more than one CDROM disk, you will need to enter
  123.   information for each disk.  Place the first disk into your CDROM
  124.   drive.
  125.   
  126.   CDROM Drive:
  127.   Enter the drive letter or path (if using a LAN). 
  128.    
  129.   Disk:
  130.   Use the + or - keys on your keypad to toggle disk number to configure.
  131.   
  132.   Disk Title:
  133.   Enter the name of the CDROM, this is what callers will see on the 
  134.   Rombrain Main Menu.

  136.   Path to RomBrain Filebase:
  137.   Enter the DRIVE\DIRECTORY for the filebase base for this disk. This is
  138.   the location of the directory that will hold the Rombrain RBF files.  
  139.   You can download them from the Brainex BBS, or create them with the 
  140.   MAKEDAT/CREATE programs. Before you use these, enter the information 
  141.   for each CDROM disk.

  143.   CD-ROM Identifier:
  144.   Be sure the cd-rom disk is in the drive, then hit ENTER.
  145.   The timestamp of the first directory on the CD-ROM and CD-ROM volume
  146.   label will be read. An identifier will be created based on this info.
  147.   
  148.   Access Level to View Directory:
  149.   Enter the user level that may view the directory of the disk.
  150.  
  151.   Access Level to Download Files:
  152.   Enter the user level that may download files from this disk.

  155.   To add another CD, use mouse or arrow keys to move to the DISK NUMBER 
  156.   box, then use mouse buttons or plus/minus (+ -) keys to select the
  157.   next disk number. The list of Disks will appear to the callers in the
  158.   order they appear in the setup.

  160.   If any information is left blank, the CD information will NOT be saved.

  162.   You may delete a CDROM disk record entry by selecting DELETE.

  217.   USING DSZ AND HS-LINK WITH NON-STANDARD COM PORTS
  218.   =================================================
  219.   All Brainex doors share the same DSZ batch files.  Comport settings
  220.   (IRQ, PORT, BASE) are passed to the batch files by the doors when they 
  221.   shell to DSZ. If you have a comport that uses a non-standard IRQ or 
  222.   ADDRESS, Brainex Doors will pass the parameters as needed.

  224. DESQVIEW TIPS
  225. =============
  226. If you get errors using Desqview, try these settings:
  227. Set OPTMIZE COMMUNICATIONS to YES
  228.  
  229. If you use a 486:
  230. Set USE MATH COPROCESSOR   to YES
  231.  
  232. PROBLEMS
  233. ========
  234. Most problems occur when there is not enough RAM to run the door.
  235. Make sure your BBS can SWAP to EMS or DISK, and not SHELL. SHELL will
  236. leave a large portion of the BBS code in RAM, and usually not leave enough
  237. for the door.
  238.  
  239. Make sure you use the correct drop file for your BBS (DOOR.SYS, DORINFO.DEF,
  240. etc.). Example, do NOT use GAP BBS type for DOOR.SYS if you do not run
  241. GAP BBS, select GEN as the BBS type for GENERIC DOOR.SYS.
  242.  
  243. If callers see garbage or incomplete screens, but everything looks fine on
  244. local screen, this usually means you have not synchronized the comport
  245. settings of your BBS and the door. If you have locked the BBS at 19,200
  246. baud, be sure you do the same for the door. Select 19200 for the baud, and
  247. LOCKED for the lock setting.

  249. You can easily view or change door settings by editing the BRAINEX.INI
  250. file with any ASCII text editor.
